Sixteen members of the Christian Adventures Group were passing through town on their bicycles. This it is a group based in Grand Rapids, Michigan and they do this to raise money for many worthy pro- EDITORIAL non-prof- God bless America! jects. This current tour is to help finance a Haiti Learning Center. The building will house administrative offices for the Haiti Christian World Outreach and also a model health and nutrition program for Haitian peoples. The group averages about 65 to 75 miles a day and they either camp out or stay in churches along their route. They left from San Francisco and plan to end their tour in Washington D.C. Their average age is about 22 and they range in age from 16 to 27. Vic White is the tour coordinator and was most happy to talk to this reporter about their activities. Friday our country will celebrate one of the most exciting and grand Fourth of July holidays ever. All the festivities are centered around the spruced up Statue of Liberty. Lady Liberty is only a picture in the minds of most of us who have never seen her. But she means the same thing all around the world. She is the symbol of what our nation was built upon. Liberty is the source of our spiritual and material blessings. Life in America is not without struggle. But life in America means opportunity. As Americans we can rise above our circumstances and seek a better life because of our freedoms. Lady Liberty is 100 years old, but she represents 210 years of independance in this nation. It was then that our forefathers declared our dedication to liberty. We are free because of the foundation they laid. But it is up to each generation to keep working and striving to keep our freedoms. She was born March 4, 1908 at Paonia, Colorado, a daughter of Robert Lee and Alice Mabel Robbins, She married Job Byron Huff on n October 16, 1924 at Tellunde, orado. They moved to Emmett in 1930- He died June 18, 1966. She was an active member of the 1st Baptist Church of Emmett. Survivors include two step-son- s, William Huff, Leland, and Foster Huff, Phoenix, Arizona; a step- Col-hym- - daughter, Cleo Judge, Eureka; eight grandchildren and numerous grandchildren. She was preceeded n death by a daughter and four sons.
