Show Seniors celebrate Irish day are Eureka senior citizens Young-at-Hea- rt Club held the annual St. Patricks party last Wednesday at the Memorial Building. President Martin Fennell presided and welcomed all present. Following the blessing, a delicious roast beef dinner was served to forty-si- x members attending. The hall was festive with Irish decorations and the dinner tables featured green streamers and green foil shamrocks. Chairperson of the dinner was Margaret Fennell and she was assisted by Leah Towers, Ada Schmidt, Alice Fox, Virginia Randle and Elna Bird. The decorations were the work of Rachel Hannifin, Virginia Cartwright and Helen Ferris. Following dinner, door prizes were awarded to the lucky ticket holders..Viola Carlson, Margaret Fennell, Alliene Farren, Alice Peart and Faye Morgan. tablecloth The donated to the club by Alice Peart for Project Income, was raffled off and Grace Bernini was the lucky winner. A vote of thanks was given to all who helped to make the project a success. Fred Holladay thanked everyone for the cards, letters, calls, flowers and gifts he received while in the hospital recently and said he had a bottle of honey for everyone who has not yet received one. Fred gives each member of the club a gift of honey each year..and the club exhand-embroider- pressed ed appreciation for the delicious gifts. The program was under the direction of program chairperson Joan Dale. She was assisted by Frank and Alice Peart, who made arrangements for some young people from Payson and Genola to come up and entertain the group. Mary Jane Nelson, accompanied by Maria Jones, sang Look to the Rainbow; Danny Boy; and the Theme from Ice Castles. Mary Jane is the granddaughter of Frank and Alice. The HATU CLOGGERS from Payson, under the direction of Ranee Crouch, performed four clogging routines. There were twenty girls in this part of the program and it was indeed very entertaining. Following the dance numbers, Joan Dale asked all of Irish descent to come to the front and each one told where their ancestors came from in Ireland. Those honored were: Gertrude Hannifin, Helen Ferris, Virginia Cartwright, Ted Hannifin and Martin Fennell. The evening ended with Mabel Butler at the piano playing some Irish songs. The group was invited to join in singing My Wild Irish When Irish Eyes Are Rose, Smiling, Galway Bay, and others. Thanks were extended to all who helped to make the party a success. The school serves not only children with no vision (blind), but also those having low acuity or limited field (partially sighted). A student is eligible for the program when vision impairment interferes with learning. Six Teacher Consultants have been hired throughout the state to serve rural areas. They cross county lines and school district boundaries to serve visually impaired students as needed. The TC in this area is Martha and conducting. Olsen. Spotlight was then put on a nearly lifetime sister of the ward and a trubute by Laura McIntyre told of her many accomplishments as a teacher in the Relief Society; as a school teacher for many years; and in other capacities. Laura told of this sisters many travels abroad; and of her loyalty to her family, especially in times of need. She described Earlean Gear as an ideal person to pattern ones life after. A beautiful yellow corsage was then pinned on Earlean... a very surprised lady. On Top Of The World, was then sung by Rhoana and Adele. The second spotlight was the biggest surprise, at least to the sister being honored. Arlene Stoneman came up from Spanish Fork to give the Spotlight on her mother, Alice Fox. Arlene; Jay, Anna, Kaylene and David Hughes; Stella Evans; Kathy and Kent Bennion, all from Spanish Fork; and a sister, Leona Steele, of Provo, seated themselves in a row at the back, giving a good representation of Mrs. Foxs family. Husband, Harold, was, of course, also included in the group. A corsage was also pinned on her. Bishop Ronald Griggs then gave some remarks and quotes on the humorous side. Adele and Rhoana sang, Follow, Follow, Follow. Closing prayer was by David Garbett. The evening ended with picture taking of small groups of those attending. Entre Nous Members of the Entre Nous Club met at the home of Afton Berry Wednesday evening. President Donna Laird conducted the business meeting after which Pat Brady entertained with the book All Gods Children, by Dorothy Gauchat. This heartwarming ISIS") true story described the experiences of Mrs. Gauchat and her husband as they cared for physically and mentally handicapper foster children. Their concern eventually led to the establishment of Our Lady of the Wayside home in Akron, Ohio, which cares for 35 children at a time. As a matter of fact, because of the inclement weather, she was unable to make her annual trip to Tintic to visit friends.
