In May, it was deter- mined that the corporation, ARCO was a "potentially responsible party" and in July, they agreed to assist in the cleanup. They are now here with the EPA working on mine dumps and beginning plans for clean up. Although, we have not been able to contact ARCO yet, led Linnert of the EPA has answered some questions for us. Although the EPA will be overseeing the clean up, ARCO contractors will actually com pleting the clean up of residential yards. They are also working with the EPA on some of the mine dumps. Due to the late start mis year, the dean up of the residential yards will begin next year. The mine dumps are the immediate risk since they are the source of contamination which is why they have began cleanup on mem this year. The clean up will go in a more systematic way this time. They will begin on die west side of town and move a section at a time so although residents will see an increase amount of traffic in die area, they shouldn't see much disturbance unless fund raiser Elementary re to of the term Due community sponse, Eureka Elementary will be asking for donations readour end ing field trips and other activities.
