Show THE NUTSHELL THE DHOTOGRADHIC LVIDENCE.. oe HUH? This message was plastered on the sides of railroad cars at Cisco, perhaps hauling nuclear waste to Blanding. If anyone can explain this cryptic message, we'd like to hear from you. CONDO TRIES TO KILL ITSELF? The Zephyr spotted this faux-Santa Fe condominium with a huge sheet of plastic pulled over its head, in an apparent attempt to commit suicide by asphixiation. If we were faux-condos, we'd probably do the same thing. DOG OF THE MONTH: You'd think a guy would be safe from "Dog of the Month-Wannabees” at 11,750 feet, but damned if this dog didn’t track me down anyway. This is Inca, the beloved pal of Elizabeth Burgess and Peter Ferrero, who used to live in Torrey, but now reside somewhere else. The dog refused to carry me back to my car, but (even better) left usa cold beer....thanks guys. WE WERE TRYING TO BE NICE.. Three issues ago, The Zephyr reported on the difficulties between Vern Erb, owner of The Hoagn Trading Co., and the City of Moab. Mentioned in the article was the sculptor Curtis Llewellyn aka "Zaxxr,’ whose statue lay at the heart of the controversy. After that issue went to press, Mr. Zaxxr paid a visit to The Zephyr to, in part, complain that we had misspelled his name. So...in the next issue, we printed the corrected spelling, along with a photograph of his work. We thought he would be pleased. Instead we received the following message from the very multi-talented Mr. Zaxxr: ~ This is Zaxxr. I complained about more than how you spelled my name. That picture you took, the picture of my arch, J own the copyrights to that. and the ability to reproduce otherwise has to be given by me. If you ever Photograph it again, I will sue you and that IS a promise. A subsequent call to City hall brought a response from David Olsen, who said the City did not share Mr. Zaxxs's views on copyright claims. Olsen also stated that the City would not be a co-plaintiff if Zaxxr sued The Zephyr. This publication, however. still believes, to be absolutely safe, the City of Moab should warn citizens and visitors alike, that the above alterations to the photo of the statue may be the only way to avoid litigation. |
