Enclosing beans between two paper plates to create the right musical effect, the boys and girls prepared for dancing the "Sicilian tarantella. They decorated their tambourines with pictures of the tarantula spider, from which the dance of southern Italy takes its name. To the lilting tune of the tarantella", teachers Bonnie Tew and Janalee Goodrich taught the movements of the dance. In the library the students learned where to find the island of Sicily in its position of looking like it is getting kicked by the Italian mainland, shaped very much like a huge boot. He is looking forward to visiting with the students at Union High as well as the other schools in the Uintah Basin about his path to medical school. Carrie Torgersen, who coordinated the visits and works for Southwest AHEC, noted "The United States and Utah is bracing themselves for an extreme shortage of health care workers. RMS Students pick up their reading pace during contest Roosevelt Middle School students just finished a fantastic reading contest for the month of October called the Magic of Reading. Students competed against each other to see who could read the most points. Common consensus through theschool was that the girls would probably win. When the first points were tallied everyone wassurprised to see the boys in front, but no one thought that it would last. The boys not only took the lead in the beginning, but also held the lead throughout the contest at one self-direct- e, d time being more than 800 points ahead of the girls. The girls did tiy to make a valiant finish in the contest but come up only 122 points short of the win. The boys finished and took the win with 5,409 points and the girls 54287 points. Total "Accelerated Reading points for the school was 10,696 points. Last months total Accelerated Reading points were 3,867. What a finish for a great reading contest.
