Show Pace 2 - October 29. OPINION 2002 Uintah Basin Standard Make the Time to Meet the Candidates On Tuesday, Nov. 5 Duchesne County voters will go to the pol Is to select the people who will be representing them on very important county, state and federal government issues for the next two to four years. ( )n Wednesday, CXI. 30, they will have the ( pp rtunity to meet almost al of the candidates who are runningin the seven local races as well astwostatc legislative races, as wcllas discuss measures that will appear on the Nov. 5 ballot. The gwal ofthe Meet the Candidate fomm is to stimulate thought and discuss ion as you study your own choices before entering the votingboothoTi Nov. 5. Through thisexchange it is hoped that local voters will become better educated on the qualities each candidate has to offer and will be able to decide which candidate, if elected, will serve the county, school d istrict and shite tfric best. Traditionally, evenings set up for thcpublic to meet their candidates have been poorly attended. For that reason, for the past few elect ion years in Duchesne ( 'ounty they simply havent been held. However, with the large number ofcounty offices with opposition, we felt it was time again to hold a Meet the Candidate night, in order to promote open exchange d among candidates and voters. The Initiative I will also be addressed, and more importantly explained by those who arc in the trenches and arc knowledgeable as to its pros and cons.
