Dorothy Ivia - City Street Adjoining suys. Insist that your teen and all car pussengers wear scat belts. Parents must set theexamplc by wearing seat belts, too. Check your car brakes and brake fluid. While teens are interested in how fast the car can go, parents should lx interested in how well the car can stop. Make sure your vehicle is in top mechanicul shape if your teen is taking the wheel. Do not allow your teen to drive alter midnight. If transportation is required alter midnight, make other arrangements. Call a taxi, car pool with another parent or act as chauffeur. It is belter for a parent to lose a night's sleep than the life of a child. Concern yourself with teen driver safety 365 days a year. A contractor who had given him a bid win install tha drain system. Tha football team will help with the sprinkler system and placing sod thorn the old field. He explained the drainage plan - the water will go into a ditch on 200 South, which will carry all the surface water into the river. Mr. Kielbaw was told a settling pond ia rsquirsd for any area over an acre. Tha drainage waa discussed at length, as well as the road between the fire station and tha weed department. Mr. Kielbaw aid a super should be constructed by tha fire station and all water should go down 200 South using a aeriw of drop boms. George Adams, Tarry 8tephonson, Mayor Park, tha other council members, and Richard Ivie did not foal that ww the beat way to drain. Thay felt tha water should go down tha allay on a natural slope - tha other way tha weed department would have an axcawiva amount of water it ia lower than the surrounding Council Assignment After discussion, council deckled to transfer the assignments previously given to Mayor Park to Nancy Wager - roada and tha airport. Tha remaining assignments will stay tha asms. One road that wiU be looked at ia 100 North from Center Street to the high school. Tha iherifT had spent four hour at tha bottom of tha canyon and than ww not one truck that ww using jake brakes. Tha truck traffic down tha canyon is considerably lew since the coal trucks ara no longer hauling over this route. Mayor Park explained tha procedural along with the coats of creating a brake ordinance. For now thia issue will ba dropped. Tha removal of the DUP building ww discussed. In discussing the road, when elevations were taken, Mayor Park had been told it would take as much fill to build up thia road tha way Mr. Kielbaaa wanted it w had been haulad in for tha ball field. Mr. Kielbaaa repeated hia way ww the beat and ha ww tha only council member that had tha expertise and knowledge about tha work. He also felt a professional contractor should ba hind to install tha drain. Paul Tanner said ha felt if tha drain ww something the dty could do, it should ba darn by tha dty in order to save money . Mr. Kialbasa said no. Nancy Wager asksd why he felt the dty could not do the job d, - daughter's inattentive cooking skills as one of the major factors in her decision to join the fire department. In her spare time Carlene loves to paint with oils and crochet and GRADUATES Thelma bakes wedding and birthdqy cakes which she sells. Tammy is also known fbr her superb baking skills. Their time is not always their own even when there isnt a fire. The ladies exercise quite a bit to stay fit for this tough job. The crews always need to be ready in case they are called out to a fire, so staying sober is one of the criteria fbr a volunteer firefighter. Last New Yean Eve, a call came in about 10:30 p.m. and three women and three men wen available to respond to the call We want people who will be there to fight, not for the glory, explained Thelma. It's something somebody has to do, concluded Thelma. And then's not that many around in these little towni that want to do something like that, continued Csrlene.
