I would see one scooter, then two, then three, then four and I thought an alien invasion was on hand with folks from Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, Mercury, Uranus, Neptune and my all-tifavorite planet, other that Good Old Earth, little Pluto disguising themselves as Evil Scooters without help from Dr. Doom of Fantastic Four comic lame or that Dr. Evil guy from that "Austin Powers movie. Scooters are No. 1 right now, and to prove the point, little Miss M. (an unusual spelling of her first name that I dont dare try to attempt) Richard was a tricycle riding terror last year, but she, too (to borrow from Shoeless Joe Jackson, Say It Aint So) has told her little bike to take a e scooter hike and now is a rider, who was busy dashing around while looking out for park benches that sometimes get in the way. She occasionally was checking out dad, Chad coaching; brothers, Kaydei& Rhen pitching, and Grandma Richard snapping photos. Back in the 1960s, I had a red wagon, and a scooter, which I thought was one bigjoke. The units were real ar narrowed-wheel-wonde- rs frill-tim- - - 5 y. IINTAH BASIN STANDARD. Recently, I saw a little girl take a good spill offher scooter and luckily some nurses were nearby to help out No problem- -s he just dusted herself off and was back riding down the highway. Forget the scooter--it isnt in the same class as my Western Flyer bicycle. I took the red and white bike everywhere. I used it to ride to my Little League baseball games, and afterwards I would allow Colts teammate, George 0. Murray to bum a ride, which was quite a sight-tw- o guys dressed in old flannel uniforms (sponsor was a fertilizer company then I that had gone broke-bac- k thought, "That Stinks) complete with ball caps that had seen better days pedaling down Lagoon Street without any help from the "Creature From The Black Lagoon. I will never forget my morning battle with Bruce Andersons dog. I took a short cut near his house to school, and aa I pumped my bike I could feel and fear those teeth nipping at my heels. To this day I still cant venture into that area without being on alert for that long gone dog thatl'm glad didnt know how to ride a scooter. tRecently, I saw a movie called, "CraxyBeautiftil, and this rich girl had of all things for transportation-a- n old Galaxy 600 car, and I thought. - 1 include: Duchesne, Manila, Altamont, Tabiona and Rich. It appears that Hartman homered in the fourth as the other three batters went down in order with the first and second outs all on strike outs. Hartman is given one which would be for a solo homer. However, lie might have scored on wild pitches. Whitehead scored one run for Roosevelt in the fourth and Gollaher added the other score in the sixth. Knudson might have driven in White-hea- d on a sacrifice fly or knocked in Gollaher with a double as he is listed with a RBI. It was a good pitching match-u- p with G. Timothy whiffing 13 Roosevelt batters and Gollaher mowing down 10 Duchesne sluggers. Also during 1963, Roosevelt won the Region 9 American Legion baseball championship by downing Verin a doubleheader in nal, Fort Duchesne, which broke a tie for first place.
