Since June 20 there have been 6,212 admissions to the citys pool thats up by 1 .200 from last years admissions of 5,032, Kirk Wentworth, pool manager As well, there have been 149 season passes sold since the price increase from last years $125 for all immediate family members living in the home to the price of $135 per family of up to four people, plua an additional $15 per person. Wentworth said that on average about 200 passes are sold by the end of season. Daily admission cost of $2 person was unchanged; however, on fees went up from $20 to $25 , with the exception of the Mom and Tot class. I haven't seen any differences in attendance this year," Wentworth reported, noting that although the cost ofthe family pass did goup, at the same time those purchasing passes who are 18 years and older can participate in more activities such as water aerobics and lap swimming, as well as free swimming. He continued, "1 think it's made it more pleasant for some." According to Went worth, ifan in E ' dividual desires to swim more than three times a week, he feels they are better off financially to purchase a paaa. City Recreation Director Linden Dye proposed these increases for the purpose of reducing the citys subsidy for operating the pool which amounts to about $11,400 per year, and to bring prices in line with what other communities are charging. Wentworth said that Dye checked into pool rate around the state to learn what other cities were charging for passes, day admission and lessons. "Occasionally someone will say,' Gees, for those of us with big fami- lies thats a lot, but wit h a big family you always pay more," Wentworth said, noting that Roosevelt's pod prices are now comparable to others. "1 think for some families they've become smarter shoppers. They pick four or five kids in the family that will swim and indude them in the pass." There are no noted differences in lesson attendance either, with the second session having just begun on June 26.
