Last year students in Keith Morris advanced geography class went in Roosevelt to quit residents on how they felt the city ranked in community services and recreation. They were also asked what improvements they would like to see the city make. With the help of the City Coun door-to-do- or cil. this years advanced geography class has prepared a survey to gauge everything from spending by cities, pay for city employees, recreation, fire and police protection, tales tax revenue, water and sewer rates, property values, street work and whether or not they have an airport in their community. The survey is being conducted with about 15 cities which have between 3.500 o 5,500 -populations except for Vernal and Monticello. Students will contact city admi and work through and faxing to get the data they need. fNeWMqney take part in spelling bee Kevin Moon, Duchesne School Apply Now At 140 East 100 North elf Jones PAINT & GLASS Roosevelt, Utah 722-39- 26 Academic Leadership 10 FREE District, and Jamie Prevedel, Uintah School District, who lives near Roosevelt, have qualified for the 23rd annual Deeeret News Spelling Bee Finals. Ulitf Dr. Ogden DDS recently instructed several local children in dental care, as part of National Dental Month, in February. The operators of A Little Golden Tim Child Care (Chris Peterson), Busy Bee Child Care (Pat Mitchell), and Hearta and Hands Child Care (Donna Crapo), asked Dr. Ogden if he would help the children that are in their care understand tha necessity for them to take care eftheir teeth. He talked to each of the children and told them what they needed to do to hare healthy teeth as they grow older. He told them about the sugar bugs that make holes in their teeth. He also told them how dentists repaired the damage done by the sugar buga, and explained each of the tools he uses as he makes those repairs. Dr. Ogden also gave each of the children a coloring book and new tooth brushes and taught them how to use them properly. Some of the children appeared to be frightened at first by the thought ofgoing to the dentists office. By the time that Dr. Ogden was finished talking with them they all appeared confident and happy with the things that a dentist does for people. The Licensed Child Care facilities and the parents of the children who were able to attend want to thank Dr. Ogden for his courtesy and help for the children. It has made a positive impression on them that will help them as they grow older. Businesses and professionals that take the time to show children the things that they do, have been a great help in teaching children the positive aspects of various jobs, say area day care providers.
