An Open House will be held in their honor on Saturday, Nov. 7 from 7 - 9 p.m. at the Roosevelt Stake Center, 447 E. Lagoon Street in Roosevelt. In case of an oversight, all family and friends are invited to attend. The couple will make their home in Orem where Boyd will continue his education at BYU and Emmy will continue her education at UVSC. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Brough announce the marriage of their daughter, Valerie, to Michael Richins, son of Kerry and Jeni Richins, Wallsburg, Utah. A reception will be held in their honor on Saturday, Nov. 7 from 7 - 9 p.m. at the Crossroads Center in Roosevelt. Valerie and Mike graduated from Union High School in 1995. Both are currently employed in Provo where Valerie is continuing her education at UVSC. They will make their first home together in Orem. In case of any oversight all friends and neighbors are invited to attend. Plans to build another five new Temples announced Shalako Wayne Welhom, son of Gary and Tina Welbom, celebrated his 1st birthday on Nov. 4. SOON TO BE MARRIED Kara J. Thomas and Brian C. Peatross have chosen Saturday, Nov. 7 to be married at the Tabiona LDS Church. Quincey Huber, daughter of Blaine and Suzie Huber, celebrated her 1st birthday Nov. 3. Andrew Perry Taylor, son of Perry and Natalie Taylor, celebrated his 1st birthday Oct. 28. ThomasPeatross Ann Thomas and the late Acel Thomas are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter Kara J. Thomas to Brian C. Peatross, son of Shawn and Terrie Mortensen, on Saturday, Nov. 7 at the Tabiona LDS Church, Tabiona Utah. A reception will be held in their honor that same evening at the Tabiona Church from 9 p.m. with a dance following at the Tabiona Town Hall. Kara graduated from Tabiona High School in 1996 and graduated from Provo College in 1997 with an Associates Degree in Medical Assisting. Kara is currently employed at Olympus Clinic in Holladay. Brian graduated from Duchesne High School in 1996 and is now attending SLCC in the apprenticeship program. Brian is currently employed with Oakland Construction. The couple will make their home in Salt Lake. In case of any oversight all family and friends are invited. 7-- UBIC changes dates for 1999 celebration Due to the fact that the Uintah County Fair will be held the first week in August, 1999 and a lot of Tribal members will be attending a Pow Wow in Idaho, the UBIC Board has decided to change the dates of UBIC to the last weekend in July. Exact dates will be July 29,30 and 31, 1999. Mark your calendars and remember these dates in your 1999 summer plans. All five of the newly announced temples will be of the smaller variety spoken of a year ago by President Gordon B. Hinckley, world leader of the Church, when he said he wanted to build more temples in order to make the blessings of the temple more accessible to the members ofthe Church. He said he wanted to have 100 operating temple by the turn of the century. There are now 53, with dozens more under construction or on the drawing boards. The Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple will serve some 23,000 members residing in nine stakes of the Church in Louisiana and Mississippi. AWARD Gene Ostler has served as president of the Duchesne County Jr. Livestock Committee, for the past two years. Gene had devoted many hours in making the Jr. Livestock Show and Sale a great success for the 4--H and FFA members who display and sell their livestock at the Duchesne County Fair. As President, Gene has also served as a member of the Duchesne County Fair Board. The Duchesne County Jr. Livestock Committee would like to thank Gene for his outstanding service. Harris has graduated from basic military training at Fort Leonard Wood, Wayneaville, Mo., to be a member ofthe Army National Guard or Reserve Split-optioProgram. The program allows atudenta between their j unior and senior year of high school to attend national guard or reserve weekend drilli while still in school and pursue a military career specialty after they graduate from high school. During the training the recruit received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, values and traditions. Here are some tips on preparing them. For sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds in the ahell, heat oven to 250 degrees. In a large, shallow baking pan combine 2 cups of seeds, 12 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, 1 12 tablespoons melted butter, 1 1 4 teaspoons salt. Bake approximate-l- y 2 hours, stirring occasionally, until seeds are crisp and dry. For hulled pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds, bring 1 13 cupa water and 3 tablespoons aalt to a boil and pour over 1 23 cups raw, hulled pumpkin aeeda placed in a bowl. Cover and atand at room temperature 12 to 24 hours. Drain liquid from seeds, spread seeds evenly in a 10 by baking pan end bake in oven for 25 to 35 minutes or until aeeda are dry and puffed. Stir frequently. Let cool, stirring occasionally. Suva in airtight container. Roasted pumpkin aeeda will stay fresh for jup to 10 days. 15-in- 850-degr- |
