Show Ardon Baird Evans A. Evans Ardon Baird Evana, age 83, of Arcadia, Ducheane County, UT, died peacefully at hia home Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998. He waa bom Feb. 7, 1915 in Upalco, Ducheane County, UT to George Henry and Margaret Baird Evana. He married Ruth Lusty Aug. 13, 1936 in Vernal, UT. Solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple June 6, 1939. She died May 26, 1968. he married Winnie Collier July 25, 1969 in Manti, UT. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died Dec. 20, 1997. Some of hia greatest joys in life were ranching, hia family and his church callings. In the later years of his life he served three LDS missions: a family mission to Randlett, UT and two couple missions; one to Tampa, Florida and the other to Richmond Virginia. Interspersed with these were various temple as- Arthur and Clara Elizabeth Parcell Whiting. While teaching school in Myton, Utah she met Syeri Robert Dennis with whom she fell in love and later married in the Salt Lake Teri)ple on December 28, 1944. Bter life was filled with compassion and service to others. Through her example many lives were touched with her kindness and love. Her smile seemed to radiate the love she had for others. Her greatest loves were her family and m usie. She served as a ward organist, choir director and was an accompanist for others. After her husband passed away, she served a mission for the LDS church in Kentucky. For the last few years she served in the German Name Extraction where she loved the work and the people. She also served in the Provo Temple. She will be greatly missed by all who had the opportunity to know her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Syeri ; stepson: Norman Floyd Dennis brothers: Clifton, Leland and Fred, and a sister Loa. She is survived by her daughters: Charlotte Ann Broderick (Roy) , Julie Merkley ( Delbert )of Orem, Irene Manookin (Jim) all of Orem; by stepsons: Clayton Syeri Dennis (Arisen) of Bountiful, Kay Draper Dennis (Gayleen) of West Valley City, Gail Rodney Dennis (Shirlee) of North Salt Lake; a Sister Wanda Baymiller of Scottsdale, Az.; brother Ben Whiting of Aldington, Va. and many Grandchildren and Funeral service will be Tuesday, September 29, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the Lakeridge North Stake Center, 450 South 100 West, Orem. Friends may call Monday evening 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Stake Center and Tuesday 10:00 to 10:45 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery under the direction of Wheeler Mortuary. signments. Dennis Dawna Lerene Whiting Dennis, our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend passed away Friday, September 25, 1998 in Provo, Utah. She was born September 3, 1921 in Wallsburg, Utah to William forever. He is survived by his wife Marguerite, of St. George, daughters Sauna Lindsay of Apple Valley, Lori (Howard) Brinkerhoff of Altamont, Utah, and Melanie (Glen) Banks of Ivins, Utah; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; brother Eu- gene of West Valley, Utah and sister Dorothy of Roseville, California.; He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Beth and Bernice; brothers Amasas, Eldon, Donald, Bill and Daryl. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at Comfort Cottage for the loving care, dedication and devotion rendered on Franks behalf. Memorial services will be held Thursday, Oct. 1, 1998, 11 a.m. at the Mortuary in Roosevelt, Utah. Wayne Johnson, age 57, of Vernal, formerly of A1 terra, husband ofLou Ann Johnson, died Sept 28, 1998 in the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct 1, 1998 at 2 p.m. at the Vernal 2nd and 4th Ward Chapel, 235 East 600 South. Schwartz Georgia Grove Schwartz, age 77, died Sept 19, 1998. She was born Aug. 18, 1921 in Vernal to George Dewey and vera Marzella Gagon Grove. Genealogy was her life. She is survived by sons, David Scott of Laucadia, CA; Gary Erdman, Pamona, CA; 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; 7 broth- er! and sisters, Opal Pastore, CO; Evelyn Sheets, Elko, NV; Donna Nelson, Vernal; Kirk Grove, Broomfield, CO; Carlie Lewis, Plano, TX; LaRue Shearer, Kennewick, WA; Duane McAllister, Loma McKee - 247-235- 0 Jeff McKee, 19, was seriously injured Saturday night, Sept. 19 about 9:30 p.m. when he lost control ofthe motorcycle he was riding when he drove too close to the shoulder ofthe road. The accident occurred in Tridell south of the canal by Ron McKees home. JefT is the son of Bishop and Estella McKee. He was traveling with a female companion who was not seriously hurt. JefT was taken by life flight to Utah RegionalMedical Center and is listed in stable condition. Jeff McKees missionary testimonial was scheduled for Sunday. The Stake Presidency took over for Jeff and spoke in the meeting. A surprise birthday party was held at die home of Scott and Julie Elder for Diane Simmons on Saturday. Approximately 20 guests enjoyed the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Merkley are grandparents of a baby boy born Sept. 21 in Salt Lake City to Scott and Melanie King. Asher McKee played hia fiddle at Constitution Park on Sept 12 at the Basin Fiddlers Convention. He played several ofthe tunes his played on his fiddle. Recently Estella McKee took the cub scouts to Vernal to learn from the police "How to Stop Crime." The cub scouts are practicing what they learned in their own community. Tammy Harvey has been a patient in the Roosevelt hospital. Louise King of Idaho Falls is visiting with her sister Ruth and Rae Goodrich from Monday to Thursday. The Primary recently held an activity day where all the classes dressed up like missionaries and were given the name of the country where they were to serve. The bishop had decided where each child was to go and the "call" waa signed by him. They all learned what was required to be a good missionary. Stacy, Daniel, Paula, Laura, Marci and Randon McKee came home from Utah State College in Logan last week. UINTAH BASIN STANDARD. She celebrated her 90th birthday on Sept. 15. Merle Fawsett, who has been in the care center in Roosevelt, celebrated her 82nd birthday on the 9th. She received lots ofpretty cards, flowers and good wishes. She is Lewis Fawsett's mother. Four busloads of seniors left the Gateway Senior Center on Sept. 16 bound for the petroglypha. George Marrett went along to show them the ancient symbols. They eqjoyed a good picnic then drove back. Elder Will T. Taylor, son of Brad and Serena Taylor, received hia call to serve in the Mexico Veracruz Mission. He will speak in the 4th Ward on Sunday Oct 20. He is the grandson ofJohn and Freda Davies. Lucille Wimmer of Midvale, mother of Edythe Marrett, attended Bridgeland Ward on Sunday, Sept. 20. Phyllis Day of Duchesne came with them. Lucille and Phyllis were dinner guests of the Marrett. Paige Cook, daughter of Wyatt and Lori Cook ofDuchesne, was blessed by her father Wyatt on Sunday, Sept. 6. She has a brother Dyllan at home. They all attended a dinner after church at the home of Bruce and Darlene Frank Liddell F. Liddell Frank Liddell, beloved husband, father and friend passed away School, Sept. 27, 1998 in St. George of natural causes at the age of 81. He was born March 13, 1917 in Bridgeland Utah to Bernard and Lillian Brown Liddell. Member of the LDS Church. Frank completed his early school years in Salt Lake City and High School in Duchesne where he graduated in 1935. he served in the US Navy during World War H, then returned to the Uinta Basin where he married Marguerite Monks, Nov. 28,1950. Franks greatest loves were his family, music and farming. He purchased his first 40 acres at the age of 17. At the time ofhis retirement, he had accumulated over 700 acres on South Myton Bench. He received several awards for his skills and expertise from the State Department ofAgriculture. Having no sons to help on the farm, he taught hia three daughters the trade, building many happy memories for them working side by side with their dad. Along with his work, he took great joy in singing and playing various musical instruments. His favorite waa the baqjo, playing in a dance band at several of the local dance halls. Folks came from near and far to hear him sing and play. He had a beautiful tenor voice and kept singing his favorite "oldies right up to the end. Draper. A very interesting pioneer history about Ole Peter Borg, early settler in Sevier County, was given by his granddaughter, Josephine Yergensen. The monthly history lesson, given by Lin Floyd, entailed the settling of Sevier County. Retiring from the farm at the age of 73, he moved with his wife to St. George where he spent his remaining years, battling Alzheimers Disease for die majority of his retirement Although frustrated with his condition and limitations, Frank never lost his positive outlook and sense of humor. We paid our dues and flower fund and enjoyed a potluck. There was a good turnout. Dale Tewalt came back to Duchesne on Wednesday. He has been in Craig, Colorado hunting. He picked up his wife Patsey who has been visiting with Lena Thomas and her Dad Elmer Thomas. They spent the evening with Lena and watched the ball game before they left fin: their home in California. Arnold Chatwin ofMontell, Nevada, brother of Jennie Merkley, stayed overnight with Jennie on Friday. Ruth Marshall of Salt Lake City, sister-in-laof Ovirta Curfew, passed away recently. She died ofa lingering illness. Ruth was wife of Ovirtas brother, Norris Marshall. Ovirta Curfew rode to Shelly, Idaho with her daughter Viola Taylor and granddaughter Bonnie Nielsen. They attended her grandsons mission farewell. Rose Marie Prescott, Ovirta' daughter, is the mother of the new missionary. They also attended the blessing of a baby girl.
