Like many other temples of The Church iff Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints around the world, the Vernal Utah Temple features an imposing golden figure atop the highest spire. This figure represents the Angel Moroni an individual significant to the restoration of the Church in the early nineteenth century. .During the latter part of the fourth century and the early years iff the fifth century (A.D.), a man named Moroni lived in the western hemisphere, in the land which a thousand years later would come to be called America. Like his father, Mormon, Moroni was a prophet iff God, a spiritual leader of his people. For some time, the elder prophet had been engaged in the abridgement of several centuries of sacred writings in his possession. These scriptures were engraved on thin metal sheets bound together with metal rings, much like a modem looseleaf notebook. These records told iff the dealings of God with the people in ancient America over many centuries. Central to the record was an account of the personal appearance iff the Savior, Jesus Christ, to the people of the Americas and the organisation of his church among them shortly after his death and resurrection in the Old World. 1-- 2, Young men think old men are fools but old men know young men are fools.
