Golf Meet set for Sept. The annual Roosevelt Open Meet is slated for Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Roosevelt Golf Course. Professionals and amateurs will take part in the three-da- y event Just minutes earlier it appeared that Duchesne had its big break when it recovered an Altamont fumble after a fine run by Shade Giles at the Longhorn 45. However, loss- es pushed Duchesne back into Eagle territory and they were forced to punt with T. Jensen making them pay for failing to take advantage of the fumble by dashing to the end sons for the first score of the game. In the second half, Altamont won the gamble by gaining a first down on a fourth down play and advancing to the Duchesne 43 late in the third quarter. Todd Christensen and Stansfield didn't stand around as they ripped up the middle for huge gains that had Altamont on the 23. Jed Brothereon snared a pass and Giles didn't travel too many milee-ju- st four yards to the nine, which had the Longhorns knocking at the goal line door. After picking up a first down at the five, the TD Door Closed Up tighter than a bottle of honey as the drive got stuck at the two when the ball was fumbled away during the last play of the third quarter. "It feels great to defeat Duchesne after losing those couple of years to them, said Ashby. "We worked hard and deserved to win. We just kept running the ball at them. Altamont scored eight points and that was all that they needed as they shutout the Eagles. Coach Marshall gave credit to his defense for the victory. "We got the win, but it wasn't over until it was over. Tm proud of our defense. We made some mistakes, but overall we did a great job, Coach Marshall said. "We scored on the punt return, and then we let our TF do the job."
