J b Aldon Rachele A while back I featured "Super Duper Sports Names" in the world of basketball such as the Hoopes Brothers-Aar- on and Billy, who Just naturally played "Hoops" as members of the Duchesne High School basketball team, and Brandon and Roger Dart, former Union High School athletes. Ths "Darted younger Dnrt-BranAround The Field" playing defense for the 1996 University of Utah football team while his dad, Roger checked out the action. Now I have some "Super Duper Wrestling Names". State Brian Foote won a Crown earlier this month, and he has a great wrestling name. Foote put his "Best Foot Forward" to coma out No. 1. Ho was behind by one paint in his championship match vs. Barker tram North Sanpete. Foote waa only "Inches Away From A Title" due to being behind by one counter, 4-- late in the match, but a loss even though by one leaves a wrestler "Miles Away Fran His Goal". note didnt want to be Miles and Miles in Despair, and thus ha scored a match tying point to knot up the match at 4--4. Foote won the contest and the title when he booted Barkers hopes with a winning takedown in sudden overtime. Union High Schools Foote inched his way closer and doner to a state championship every year. He toed the match in 1995 and came through with a third place victory. Foote almost reached the finals that year, but a tough luck call kept him from advancing to the first placs battle. Foote . healed . up from his don 3-- A 3, 1996 where he placed second. Foots finally achieved his No. 1 goal by turning in excellent mat footwork to knock off Barker for the 1997 championship crown. Sometimes a wrestler has one shot at a championship and doesnt get a second chance. Jeff Good of Uintah competed for a mat title as a sophomore and ended up second when he lost by few paints (Might Have Been ). Good never received another championship opportunity. Ha was an excellent wrestler, but he wasnt Good enough as he placed third as a Junior and fourth or fifth as a senior. I was checking out the report of region meets in the daily newspapers prior to the state tournament, and I came across a Name'-Weak- ley of "Super Duper wrestler. It Dixie, a turned out Weakley wasnt "Weak" as instead he was "Strong. He also has a great first name in Royal as he was the "Mat Kingf at 145 pounds with a championship State crown at the recent 3-Wrestling Tournament There has to be No Doubt Kartchners and About It-t- he Garters of Cedar City must have Wrestling In Their Blood because both "Matmen" have the first names of "You Guessed It" "Matt". Kartchner won the 189 pound 3A title and Carter won his third state championship at 215 pounds. Jodi Sunrise of Brighton wan the Region Four 119 pound title and since a champion would have to be a good wrestler I doubt he shouted. "Surprise" when he defeated Aron Enberg of Mountain View in the title contest Worn Shocks 145-pou- Ckyd Wooley, UnionUintah, had a good wrestling name in 1970-7He took second as a Junior for Union High School in 1970 and then won the championship as senior wrestler for Uintah in 1971. He was a tough guy to battle because Wooley wae a "Mighty Woolly wrestler, who disputysd the drill or toughness on ths mat as he overpowered his opponents with Tires Leave the Road Hurry In Soon Sale Good for Limited 1. I should know as I wrestled in 1968. He didnt pin me, but he beat me in a Rough Woolly" match. Wooley PA Woolly Wooley wasnt a dirty rough wrestler. It wae Just after a match his opponents felt that they had been through a "Real Rough match, and by the way Suprise of Brighton won a 5A title. He didn't have to pull off any "Surprise Moves" to win the crown.
