December 29. 1992 - Page 1 1 Union to have home contests By Aldon Rachele Union High School took the week off for Christmas, but will be back to work on the court with home games against South Summit, Tuesday, December 29 and Woods Cross, Wednesday, December 30. The Cougars bays team has a 3 record, which includes victories over Morgan, Northridge and Bear River. Losses have been to Ogden, twice and Manti. Duchesne will travel down south for the Panguitch Tournament, and will host Green River, January 8. Altamonfs next home game is set for January 9 at Rich. Tabiona will travel to Dugway for a game, December 30 and will battle Green River on the road, January 3-- non-leag- 7. Final Open Barrel standings found Marie Jenkins in first place, a lead which she held all year, with a total of 146 points. Marie rides an eleven year old gelding. Second went to Amy Adams with 117 points and Sheila Wilkins gained enough paints to take third with a total of 98 points. ' The Green Horse Barrels was a new division this year. The horse could not have made more than ten timed runs before the first approved jackpot After the finals, year end was won by Mary Ann Parrish with 142 points on a U.B.-B.R- A 13 year old mare named "Lade. Billie Farnsworth waa second with ' 138 points. Billie had led all year to have Mary Ann catch her at the second to the last jackpot. They were tied going into the finals. Third went to first year member Boni Monks with 122 points. Finals for the $100 Novice Barrels found Cindy Young and Michelle Shiner tying for first on the electric eye. The $100 Novice Barrels had a total of 30 runner throughout the year. However, Cindy Young held on far a first place win year end with 192 points. old gelding, Cindy ran her Savage. Michelle Shiner made a run at Cindy, moving from eighth to second place by the end of the year with a total of 176 points. Third went to Brandy Bursa with 160 paints.. Year end found Mary Ann Parrish first, riding her 11 year old gelding, "Chewbacka," and winning the $300 Novice Barrels with 121 paints. She led this division all year. Second went to Marci Miller with 79 points. Before the finals Kathy Clark was sitting third, but a hit barrel cost her, and Marie Jenkins edged her out for third with 28 points. Year end first place went to Stephanie Robb, riding her 16 year old gelding, Dee Bar. Stephanie consistently won the jackpots to win the Junior Barrels with a lead of 128 points. Second went to Aubry Young with 51 paints, whidi was a one paint lead over Brandy Wall, who ended up third with 60 points. Year end went to Alana Searie on her six year old horse. Coal Move, with 137 points. Clarinda Richens ended up second with 133 points. She had held onto the lead until the finals, but with three weeks left, Clarindas horse "App" cut hie leg. Alana gained enough paints to pass Clarinda in the finals. Third went to Cindy Wall with 91 points. Shalyn Searie was the first place winner of the Pee Wee Division with 124 paints. Shalyn rides a 21 year old mare named Silver. Second went to Sue Vincent with 84 points, and third place went to Jessica Wilkins with 78 paints. Leah Harrison won the Amateur Barrels on her 14 year old gelding, "Wheely," with 46 points. Second went to Moreen Henderson with 32 points. The lead in the Open Poles changed seven times, plus one tie throughout the year, between Marie Jenkins and Mary Ann Parrish. Going into the finals Mary Ann was in the lead by three points. However, with Marie Jenkins winning first at the finals and having a runner split her and Mary Ann, Marie won year end by a one point lead of 118 points to Mary Ann Parrish's 117 paints. Marie rides a 16 year old gelding named "Fat Boy." Third place went to Sheila Wilkins with 41 points. Billie Farnsworth won first in the $100 Novice Pbles, a lead which she held all year long. Billie hit very few poles during the year. Billie ran two horses to secure first place. A seven year old unregistered mare named Trinity and a four year old gelding named "Leon." Second went to Amy Adams with 135 paints and third to Vickie Wilkins with 120 points. Stephanie Robb was first year end on her gelding, Dee Bar, with 135 paints. Second went to Shalyn Searie with 108 paints, and third went to Sue Vincent with 66 points. Alana Searie also wan the Senior Pbles on her hone, Coal ten-yea- r 6-- 1 No. 3 ranked Intermountain Christian, according to the Salt Lake Tribune, took an 11-- 7 lead in the first quarter and led 1 at the half in Altamont. ICS pumped in 23 in the third for a 8 24-2- 47-3- 5 advantage and won by withstanding a fourth quarter charge of 27 pants by Altamont Blake Bingham led Altamont with 19 paints. He tossed in seven field goals and hit 3 out of 5 free throws. Jeff Brough added 16 and Cheyenne Bateman 12. Dewey Jessen scored 11 and Steven Tew four. Frank Jessen scared three. Altamont fired in 24 field goals and hit 14 out of 19 free throws. Neil Smith led Intermountain Christian with 20. Intermountain Christian struck for 23 field goals and hit 26 out of 42 fires throws. 72-6- Move, with 121 points. Cindy Wall was second with 97 points, and Clarinda Richens was third with 83 paints. After two previous years ending up tied year end for the open goats, Kayde Holmes pulled off first place with 122 points on her six year old gelding, Pride. Amy Adams was second with 116 paints, and Michelle Shiner was third with 63 points. Stephanie Robb won the Junior Goats making a dean sweep of the junior divisions. She was first with a total of 131 points. Brandy Wall was second with 73 paints, and Sue Vincent was third with 52 paints. Billie used her four year old gelding, "Leon," to goat tie on. Vickie Wilkins was second with 113 points, and Mary Ann Parrish was third with 77 points. Open All Around went to Billie Farnsworth with a second place win in the green horse barrels and first in the $100 Novice Poles and $25 Novice Goats. Cindy Wall was the Senior All Around Champion with a third in the Senior Barrels, second in the Senior Pbles and first in the Senior Goats. Stephanie Robb was the Junior All Around Champion Junior barrels, poles and goats. Most improved awards went to Boni Monks, Clarinda Richens and Shalyn Searie. Sportsmanship went to Rhett Searie, Cindy Wall and Sue Vincent. Superhorse went to Cindy Walls 24 year old horse, "Buck."
