They then went on to Lngnn and spent the weekend with their daughter Anna and Darrin Brown. They ure both attending schxl there this winter. Steve and Hope Esauk left this last weekend to move to Washing- ton where they spend the winters in warm weather. Woody and Melba Reynolds who live on Blue Bench spent some time over at Flaming Gorge camping and fishing with their family, and are plnnning to leave for Washington to spend the winter, when they return. Alice Firth went with her daughter, Lila Oakes of Vernal, last week for Alices doctor checkup. Alice said the doctor said she was doing real good and that hed see her in six months again. Creagcry Wayne Hanberg, son of Wayne nnd Jan Hanberg, wns baptized on Saturday and Confirmed in Church on Sunday in the Bridguland Ward by his father. Maxine Jensen of Provo came out on Saturday last week with her niece, Judy Swasey. Maxine spent the time with her mother, Inez Swasey. Rodney and Chris Swasey had their bnby girl, Laura blessed in church on September 30 by her father. Chriss parents, Jack and Rita Chipp of north Salt Lake came out for the occasion. Art and Avery Perkins of Roy, Utah spent this last weekend visiting with her two sisters, Ruby and Dave Thomas and Mary and Elmer Thomas. Bob and Cleo Peatross had their son Danny and Michelle and their twin babies, a boy and a girl, visiting with them for a few days from Tustin, California. Rachel Henderson went to Wells-vill- e (out of Logan). She stayed with her grandchildren while their parents were in California on vacation. She was gone for five days. Annie and Toney Purcell and family of Roosevelt attended the blessing of their niece, Laura. Tbey spent the day with Annies parents, George and Jeanette Swasey and family. There were fourteen ladies that left Duchesne on Saturday morning to go the Women's Conference at the Tabernacle. They took two vans. Kenna Foy and her mother, Mattie Anderson met them and went along with them far the day. They toured the Church Museum and went to Chuck A Rama where they all epjpyed dinner together. They enjoyed the evening at the Conference as a Relief Society ' Activity for them all. The Dave and Elmer Thomas and their wives took their campers and went to Red Creek to elk hunt for a few days. Hope they had good ; luck. Inez Swasey went to Provo on Sunday afternoon with her daughter, Maxine Jensen'and a granddaughter, Judy Swasey where she kept a couple of doctor appointments. Her daughter Amanda Gillispie brought her home on Thursday. Frank and Nellie Morrell of St. George, Utah spent four days visiting with his sister, Thelda Hoisted. George and Eduth Marett spent this last weekend in Denver, Colorado with their daughter, Adelle and Carl Pryor and their sonB. Pam and Dean Peterson had as guests last weekend: Joe and Penny Mulvey and six children, father, Lloyd Mulvey of Murray and a friend Gene Follerz of Salt Lake, Scott and Leslie Peterson and two children of Vernnl. On Sunday they celebrated a first birthday for Whitney, daughter of Scott and Leslie Peterson. For this occnsion, Bill and Veva Tollefson joined with Ron and Mary Jeanne Tollefson and three girls of Vernal, Bruce and Darlene Tollefson and three children. They all had a fun time. We have lost two more of our very dear friends this past week. Ralph Sharpies of Ioka, he drove the Senior Citizens Bus for a lot of fun trips. We do send our love to his wife, Edith and his family. Also, Orr Mason, father of Maxine Mullins passed away on the 8 of October. He used to be a good friend to all and came and played Bingo with our group in Duchesne. We send our best to his family. Whether anyone should visit the school in person, or by telephone, they will be greeted by a most helpful considerate and cheerful Sherry Wales. She goes out of her way to be helpful and pleasant to students, faculty and parents alike. Sherry always Bees that a job is done the right way and helps everyone in any way she can. Sherry also is very supportive of the extra curricular activities at the school including sports, band, proms and many other events. We are fortunate to have Sherry Wales as a part of our high school. Minnie Morrill and Ellen Dodge are sisters to Arvella Day and Willard Day is a brother to Zelma Lloyd. Era, Minnie .and Ellen all spent the night with the Days and Zelma spent the night with her nephew and his wife, Devere and Emma Dennis. Emma is a sister to Cliff Drollinger of Roosevelt Thelma Shields has spent1 10 days visiting with her children, Kent and Karen Robinson of Logan, Dave and Gloria Maughan in Hooper, and Mike and Jana Flaherty in Plain City. She attended the races in Pocatello with the Robinsons. Upon her return home, she was visited by Mr. and Mrs. Eric Erickson of Sacramento, California. Mrs. Erickson will be remembered as the former Janie Winn who resided here in this area. Mr. and Mrs. June Roberts left Monday for St. George where they will spend the winter. . Debbie Lamb of Wyoming and Sharon Lamb of Colorado visited Mr. and Mrs. June Robert over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Humes and family of Fort Bridger, Wyoming visited Mr. and Mrs. A1 Roberts and Mr. and Mrs. Bud Young and family over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Van Tassle, Glade and Gordon Van Tassle of Draper spent the weekend at their home in Tabiona. Mr. and Mrs. Craig Neilaon , Lynn and husband, Elaine Curry and family, Mr. and Mrs. Chad Humphrey of Salt Lake spent the weekend hunting and visiting relatives and fin ends in Tabiona and Hanna. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Rhoades of Laremie, Wyoming spent a couple days visiting Mr. and Mrs. Orvil Rhoades and family. They also attended LDS Conference on Salt The Eagle Court of Honor was held October 2 in the Neola 1st Ward for Travis Anderton and Brett Henrie. Other scouts received recognition for their various advancements and merit badges also. This was attended by many relatives and friends. Mark and Janet Rutoff and children of Salt Lake spent a night with her parents, Glen and Barbar Pratt and three boys, Ken, Jonny Helpful secretary Lake. Dixie Lefler spent a few days in Salt Lake where she was staying with her brother, Ralph Mecham, at the LDS Hospital while his wife . attended her grandfathers, Mr. Ames, funeral in Roosevelt Mr. and Mrs. Max Giles, Tom Giles and Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Shirtiff of Salt Lake spent the weekend in Hanna visiting Hazel Defa and Maxine Penrod. Velda Letterman and Lavell and Beryl Dugdale of Winchester, Idaho; Bob and Vivian Clayton, Bill Knudsen, Lloyd and Iris Middleton, Lynn and Mary Fern Martin, Rick Sharpies and his sisters, Lucy S tod clary and Donna Lee Huston all of Salt Lake City. His other sister, Bessie Hobbs form California also attended. From Green River came JoAnn Wedherinton and Mary Edmunds from Price. Others form Salt Lake City were Nora Falor, Charlotte Wilkes, Tori Gagon, Gary and Alton Prescott and Bob and Kay Nyberg from West Jordaq. Also attending were Mr. Sharpies four grand children and nine great grand children. Sympathy is extended from our community to his wife, Edith and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Zimmerman from Dallas, Texas were recent visitors in the Roosevelt ana. They visited with friends and relatives, including Jay Larsen who is Mrs. Zimmermans brother. Marion Martensen haa been in tiie Ashley Valley Medical Center in Vernal, Buffering from a broken wrist Marion is now home and recuperating. Our community sends their best widies to her. Gordon and Can Harmston, Salt Lake City eryoyed a special weekend in Roosevelt October 1214. They were joined by all their children and families in celebration of their of their 60th wedding anniversary. The Lapoint community was saddened last week by the death of Darlene Huber Cox. Darlene and Merlin lived in Lapoint for many years. She ia the sister of Richard Lamb, Catherine Nelson, and Karen Horrocks. Merl Horrocks accompanied her sister, Lou Wardle, from Neola, to Salt Lake, where Merl kept a doctors appointment Ellen Jenkina, Payson, accompanied Merl Horrocks to dinner at the Golden Age Center in Vernal on Wednesday. Mr. and Mre. Laris Wolley attended funeral services for Lynn Wilcken in Myton last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Haslem went to Kaysville Thursday to move Mr. and Mrs. Wade Haslem to Vernal. They also went to Bountiful and visited Julia Haslem and Mrs. Haslems mother, Elizabeth Morrill. Clyde Merkley had cataract surgery performed this week at the Duchesne County Hospital. Dallen McKee was a player on Vernals little league football team that took the championship Tues' day. His team was undefeated. Word has been received from Elder Trevor McKee that he is now laboring in Ames, Iowa and Elder Russell McKee is laboring in Shurrey, Canada. They are the sons of Bishop and Mrs. Ron dal . , week. The Presidency of the Young Womens Organization made a trip to Salt Lake where they were able to meet members of the General Board Presidency. Theyalso attended a session at the Jordan River Temple. Those going were Diane Simmons, Pam Wallace, Janet Merkley, Kirstin McKee, Beth Simmons and Janet Bartlett. Visiting in Tridell recently were Ethel and Larry and La Wanna Goodrich, Roy, Utah. Gene and April Goodrich and family Sandy, Utah spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Rae Goodrich. Thayne Goodrich whos home is in Bountifiil is living with his grandparents Mr. and Mre. Rae Goodrich. He spent two days in Salt Lake City last . ; McKee. A number of dairy producers and their wives attended a dairy meeting and dinner at the Frontier Grill Tuesday. The meeting was1 under the direction of WDCI. Tridell and surrounding area was blessed with a good snow and rain storm Saturday night and Sunday. A total of 1.22 of an inch was measured. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Merkley went to Provo Saturday were they attended the temple- and visited with Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Mer kley in Orem. Sunday they attended the Court of Honor for their grandson Adam where he was, made an eagle scout. Visiting recently at eh Clyde Merkley home has been Emily Brackway and son, California and Mrs. Melba Hatch and daughter of Vernal. Jared Wallace is' on Uintahs track team. He took 3rd place in the track meet held in Vernal this week. Sandy McKee took her Scouts on a survival trip Thursday into the mountains. They stayed over night 1 Visiting last week with Margaret Ellison was her brother Hyrum Dudley and his wife Alice, Joseph, Utah. Also visiting was a cousin, Stella Feriiilious, St George. Forest Service signs are pushed over by vehicle Several Forest Service signs have recently been vandalized on the Vernal Ranger District by someone driving a vehicle purposefully over the signs. The sign posts have been broken off and in some cases the signs have been shattered and destroyed by the tires of the vehicle. Signs vandalized in this manner include: several signs in the Big LakeInm Springs Area, the information sign at the junction of the East Park Road and the Colton turn-o- ff the sign for Little Brush Creek dong US Highway 191, several signs along the Diamond . Mountain Road, including the large pipe frame Forest boundary sign, which was destroyed. A dollar estimate for all this sign vandalism equals over $700. Vandals damaging property of the united states need to be cited for this offense and appear before the US Magistrate. Destroying public signs is a waste of taxpayers money. Ifanyone has seen these vandals in the process of pushing over signs with a vehicle or if anyone knows who the vandals are, they are urged to contact the Vernal Ranger District Office at hard-work- ing 789-11- 81.
