Show Page 8. UINTAH BASIN STANDARD. July 17. 1985 Obituaries Walter John Martin Walter John Martin, 79 loving husband of Ruth N. Dunn Martin, died July 9, 1985 in Roosevelt after a lingering illness. He was bom March 21, 1906 in Archer Idaho to John Albert and Sarah Jane Nelson Martin. He married Ruth N. Dunn June 27, 1941 in Salt Lake City and it was later solemnised in the Salt Lake Temple. He was an accomplished musician, playing in dance bands for over 60 years and was a music, teacher for many years. He was active in the LDS Church and served as ward and stake chorister for many years. He was a ' veteran of World War' II, serving as Master Sargent in the Army Air Corps. He was retired as the Utah State Bookmobile Lobrarian. Survivors include his wife, of Roosevelt and two sons: David John Martin, of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Daniel Joseph Martini of Union.. Ten grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Joe D. (Florence) Baird, Las Vagas, Nevada, Mrs. Vernon A. (Alice) Smith South Jordan, Utah. Funeral services were held Friday July 12 in the Roosevelt 7th Ward Chapel and at the Larkin Memorial Chapel in Salt Lake City with burial in the Larkin Sunset Gardena. . - Loretta R. Murray Loretta Murray . R. Mary Loretta Rogers Murray, of Lindon, formerly of Bluebell, died July 12, 1985 in a Vernal nursing home. She was born November 26, 1910 in Idaho to Rufus Milan and Rowena Barney Rogers. She was married March 8, 1928 in Duchesne to Earl Bud" Murray and it was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She and her husband were active in the LDS Church and served on several stake missions and two Indian Missions besides serving in many positions .in the Church auxilaries. She and her husband were top salesmen for Stark fruit trees for several years. Survivors include her husband, of Lindon and five children: Mrs. J. Arthur (LaWana) Timothy, Altonah; Mrs. Howard (Fontella) Jenkins, Bluebell; George Orland Murray, Ioka; Mrs. William Glen (Dorthella) Durfey, West Valley City; Lloyd 'Arthur Murray, Salt Lake City. 27 Grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters, George Rogers, ML Emmons, Alfred Rogers, SLC, Myrtle Gallyer, SLC, Bertha Mower, North Salt Lake. She was preceded in death by a son Earl Whitney Murray. Funeral services were held Monday July 15, 1985 at 11 a.m. in the Altamont LDS Chapel with Burial in .the Bluebell cemetery. Jensen Jack Jensen Jack Jensen Jack, 58, of Tridell died July 13, 1985 in a Salt Lake City Hospital after a brief Alness. He was born June 4, 1927 to Wallace and Evelyn B Oliver Jack. He married Rose Cuch. Jensen was beloved, honored and respected by many people throughout the country and was held in deepest admiration by his own people. He was the religious of the Northern Utes, befog a Sundance Chief and Bear Dance Leader. These were great honors that he held with great pride and dignity. He worked extensively in the education of Indian youth, caring for their spiritual as well as their formal education.' He would teach bless, and counsel any who desired his help, living a respectful and exemplary life. He served in many community activities benefiting Indian people.
