Show HUlntah SBaoin Church News PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH Th Community Presbyterian Church is located at the corner of Fourth and P streets in Myton. It is a Shared Ministry in Utah church erring the Presbyterian Church (USA). Christian Church (Disciples), American Baptist Church, United Church of Christ and the United Methodist Church. Any others are also welcome. Sunday School classes for children and adults are held at 10 a.m. The adults ars currently studying the Book of Luke through use of the New Media Bible. Worship services begin at 11 a.m. each Sunday. In addition, there is a weekday program for children from kindergarten through sixth grade, HIS KIDS, which meets at the church each Tuesday at 4 p.m. If you have any questions. Call Pastor Glenn W. He also gave the Prayer of Illumination, the Epistle Lesson from Phillipiana 4:6-2- 0 and the Gospel Lesson from Matthew 722-919- 6:24-3- 4. Pastor Thomson gave the ChildAn Adjustable ren's Sermon, Faith," based on the Phillipians reading. He stated that we often have a faith that we use only to ask for things or to get us out of trouble. We also need a faith that gives thanks for what we have and for the situation as it exists. As Paul says in verse 11 of the lesson, I have learned to be satisfied with what I have." The Sermon was entitled, "Setting Our Priorities, and was the series on last of a three-paplanning for the future through setting financial goals, as well as making committments of time and talent to the service of the Lord. Glenn has prepared a newsletter which will reach each member this week. It lists the planned 1983 budget as well as what was actually spent. In order to give the congregation a choice as to how we should proceed in 1984, there will be three possible budgets listed. One would be used if we wish to cut back on current programs, the second would maintain the status quo and the third would provide sufficient monies to increase the rt programs,, add on mentioned Outreach hopefully spring. As you read and digest the newsletter, prayerfully consider your own part in the church program for the year ahead and fill out your pledge card accordingly. Now is the time to dig out the papers concerning changes in the church's constitution, board, etc. which we received several months ago. We win vote on these' changes at the Congregational Meeting which will immediately follow the worship service on Sunday, January 29. There will also be a vote on the name of the church, so decide now whether you want to retain the name we have or change it Elections will be held for board members too, so this, will be an important meeting, plan to stay and participate. Thanks to Glenn for all the work he has done on budget preparations, to Cal for his plowing and plumbing activities, and to everyone else who helps keep the church functioning physically as well as spiritually. He will LDS Faith Lutheran Church Installation of New Pastor Several members of Faith Lutheran Church of Roosevelt attended Installation services at Our Savior Lutheran in Vernal for Rev. Robert L. LADIES AIDE MEETS Members of the Myton Ladies Aide met at the church on Friday, January 13, for their monthly business and social meeting. They also visited a daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Olsen and son Dax. given e Venice Mecham is spending a couple of weeks in Salt Lake with her daughter, Vicki Krugman and three year old daughter Brandy Krugman, California. Brandy underwent surgery and is taking treatments at the Primary distributed Medical center. Terrilyn Studying under the renowned Guy organist, Weitz, Dr. Drake earned his associate degree at the Royal College of Music in London. He received his Master of Music at Indiana University and his Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Southern California. Drake was a finalist in the National Organ competition held in Fort Wayne Indiana in 1969. A workshop designed to acquaint organists and musicians with the organ will also be held Saturday, January 21, at 3:00 p.m. All ward organists and interested persons are encouraged to attend. A dedicatory organ recital, inaugurating the completion of the new pipe organ in the newly remodeled Roosevelt and Roosevelt East Stake Center will be Saturday, January 21 at 7:30 p.m. The recital will feature Dr. James Drake, present head of the organ department at Utah State University and his student Ward Hicks who is a native of Roosevelt Drake has concertized widely throughout Europe and the United States. He was tne first American to give a public performance in East Germany following World War II when he played at the Erfurt Cathedral in 1973. Stake play French-Belgia- Wednesday and Thursday night, January 25 and 26 at 7:80 p.m. in the Roosevelt West Stake Center, 800 West Lagoon in Roosevelt. They will take place in the e room. The products will be distributed at the Sheltered Workshop Staff, 950 East Lagoon St. Cheese and butter will also be on distributed in Duchesne Thursday, January 26 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. or until the supply is exhausted. The products will distributed at the Daughters of Utah Pioneer building. The distribution allotment is one five pound brick of cheese and two one pound bricks of butter. .We will not be able to allow households to obtain cheese and butter for friends and relatives due to the cuts in our allotment for this area. We will ask that you sign a list indicating that your household is in need, your name, address, number in the household and if you are under 60 years of age. SAFEWAY Youth dances Area Youth The Roosevelt Dances sponsored by the Roosevelt LDS Stakes have been planned for January. These Saturday evening dances are scheduled for January 21 and 28. They will start at 8:30 p.m. and be finished before midnight The dances are for young people 14 and older. Mrs. Beulah Richens returned home January 8 from Corpus Chris ti, Texas, after spending a month with her son, Homer Pitt, who is recovering from a heart attack. Her other son Steven Pitt, Phillipsburg, Missouri, also visited with them for two weeks. Dr. and Mrs. John Thompson spent five days in Las Vegas, last week attending a Chiropractor convention.
