Show Thursday. September 30. 1982 Uintah Basin Standard 17 Cougars will host Morgan this Friday Lightening does strike in one piece more then once. This is the fourth consecutive week the Cougar's hsve lost in their footbe efforts. This week it wes sgeinst Lehi end the final score wes Union 6 end Lehi 32. The game started out as e carbon copy of previous weeks of play as the Cougars fumbled their first chance at offense. Either a penalty or a fumble has plagued the Cat's and their attempts at the first play of every game this year. The first quarter back and forth with the Cougar defense bidding Lehi's offense, and causing the 11 see-sawe- d needed punt The Lehi squad picked off one of the Cougar's passes but couldn't make good with a score. The first quarter ended scoreless for both teams. The second quarter sparked for the Cat's as the Cougar defense once again plugged off the forward motion of Lehi and caused them to punt The punt was blocked by Charles Perdval and Grant Cook jumped at the opportunity to recover the lose ball. Cook attempted a run back but was tackled just two yards short of the goal line. Richard Shelley ran it on in for the score and the Cougar's led the game The 6-- extra point was missed. This score made the Lehi squad a little more desirous to win as in the next set of downs, they marched down the field passing and running to score. They now led The next set of offensive plays for Lehi did not last long as they connected on a 84 yard running play and they jumped out ahead of the Cougar's 13-Lehi had a good thing going and decided that if the Cat's offense was not going to move the ball and score they would. With about two minutes left before the half they went to the air and scored again. There was no extra point and at half time led 19-6-. They don't play well ahead," said Omer, hoping the game would then turn around. There was a crucial play in the beginning of the third quarter according to Omer. Union was unable to move the ball and neither was Lehi so both teams punted in the first part of the third quarter. But because of a wrong signal used by the Cougar's to signal a fair catch the ball was given back to Lehi and they scored in the next series of 7-- 6. 6. downs. With the extra point the Cougar's were now down 26-- Lehi also scored in the fourth quarter. We had a couple of real good drives in the fourth but when we fumbled in their end zone for a safety that took the rest of the wind out of the sails," said Omer. "I was disappointed. This was the worst game we have played since Park City." Morgan will travel to Roosevelt this Friday as the Cougar's will host them in the 7:30 p.m. game. They have been up and down all year, said Omer about the Trojans. They beat Lehi in a great game but then turned around last week and lost to Wasatch, so the Cougar coach doesnt really know what to expect this Friday. The Morgan team is an option team and they run it very well, said Omer. He said they had had fair success this year defending against the option play but Morgan had a good quarterback and two fast running backs that would complicate their efforts. Omer said that this week would be the important week for the region and especially for the Cougar's. There are four teams tied in the region at 1 with Union on the bottom at 2 and in much need of a win. Wasatch lead the region at 0 and Morgan, Lehi, Grantsville and Emery have all split games this year. 1-- 0-- 2-- Ladies Golf Association Officers Register Howl Oil Painting The Roosevelt Ladies Golf Association held its annual election of officers in September.
