Show Area students receive USU scholarships . Resource program successful Kathy Christensen, Gil Mitchell both Altamont, and Shane Hamblin, Roosevelt, have been named as Fine Arts Scholarship recipients to Utah State University Education Center. George Mangan and Mark Peterson, heads of the Roosevelt Fine Arts Scholarship Committee, announced The Resource classroom at East Roosevelt elementary school ia designed to assist children who, for one reason or another, have fallen behind their classmates in the three "RV. This year the children involved in the program have been tested' periodically as a means of measuring the gains made. In comparing the first testa with the final tests of the year, it waa found that, on the average, children were in the program for five and a half months, making an average gain of one year and three months in reading, and one year and seven months in arithmetic. that these three recipients met and passed the criteria for the scholarships. Miss Christensen and Mr. Mitchell have scholarships for two quarters at USU Education Center, and Mr. Hamblin has a scholarship for three K- quarters. Scholarship recipients of Utah State University Education Center scholarships have been announced by Vince of the commitLafferty, tee. Vernal area residents who were awarded scholarships include Sue B leisure, Lynne Ames, Cydne Todd Hartle, Debra Jones, and Ryan Jensen. ' Roosevelt area residents who received scholarships were David Millet t, Suzanne Fausett, Jolene Yack, and Scott Eldredge. These scholarships are full tuition scholarships worth $560 each, and will cover the 1979-8- 0 school year at USU Education Center.
