It was delayed one week with administrative problems and a second week by bad weather. The season opened Tuesday with wins for Coleman's CornbaUs over Jones' Jokers, Benson's Herd beating Neola'i Noodles and Uteland's Uglies outplaying Long's Lunkers. Games will continue each Tuesday night through October. Ouray refuge hunting seasons announced Ouray National Wildlife Refuge will be open to duck hunting in the Leota Bottom only, says Refuge Manager Herbert G. Troester. The season open Oct. 7 and all state regulations apply. The refuge will not be open to goose hunting. Development work is still underway at the refuge, and Leota Bottom is nearly all dry. Turbine pumps will be installed to replace the worn out Crisafulli pump, but have not yet arrived. Refuge personnel win install then when they arrive, and if there is enough water in the river to allow pumping, they will pump into some of the ponds this fall. The refuge will be open to gun hunting of deer during the general season, Oct except Leota Bottom will be cosed. Woods Bottom and Wyssket Bottom are leased from the U&O Tribe and are not open to deer hunting by people. The refuge will not be open to the 21-8- non-Trib- muzzleloader season of Nov. 4 to 8. Pheasant hunting will be allowed on the entire refuge from Nov. 4 to Dec 3. people wanting to hunt refuge lands leased from the U&O Tribe will hsve to purchase a Tribal hunting license.
