Square dancers set Stampede this week Roosevelt's Curly Q's square dance club sponsors their second annual Fall Stampede here Friday and Saturday. Dancers from throughout the area are invited to attend. Fred Brown, of local renown, and Frank Sanders of Ogden will call for the events. The two dances, a workshop and a UHS changes policy for tardy pupils Late students will have to change their habits because the Union high school's tardy policy has bran changed. After three tardies, a teacher will take the disciplinary action of either an extra work project or a grade cot After the seventh tardy the administration will take action. An unexcused tardy becomes an unexcused absence after fifteen minutes. The change is part of Union's attendance policy. Under the policy, only an excused absence is considered legitimate. Disciplinary action will be taken against unexcused absences and truancies. Students and their parents have the right to appeal this action. for any unavoidable Absences reasons such ss illness are considered to be excused absences. Absences which could be avoided are considered to be unexcused. Students will be called into the office chuck wagon dinner will all be held at Roosevelt junior high school Friday night's welcome dance will be held from 9 to 11 p.m. at a cost of $4 per couple. A workshop is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m.' Saturday for $3 per couple and there is a charge of $5 per couple for the dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Then Saturday night's stampede will run from 8 to 11 p.m., with the cost included in the price of the dinner. Last years stampede drew 17 squares of dancers from Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho and various cities in Utah. The Stampede is the club's major event of the year, but other big dances arte scheduled at Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Eve, Valentines Day, eta The group dances every Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. at the Roosevelt elementary school Officers of the club this year are: Rae and Emma Scholes, president; Dee and Mildred Elder, Jay and Lily Clayburn, Vice-preside- Buddy Bird, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Getchell, Duchesne, Mrs. Stella Muse, Mr. and Mrs. James I. They spent four days at Flaming Gorge, went down the Green Riber on a raft, spent a day at Glenwood Springs, Cola, then travelled to Grand Junction.
