Mac Jessen and daughter Stephanie and Shawn Shiner drove to Fort Collins, Cola, Wednesday of last week on business. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Wilkerson and family spent the Christmas holidays in Sandy with the children's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Dalton. Birdie Swasey spent Christmas with her daughter, Afton Smith, in Boise, Idaho. On her way home she visited with Mr. and Mrs. Sam Swasey in Midvale, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Swasey in Kaysville, Patricia Thomas in Granger, and Mary Rock wood in Sandy. Her grandson, Robin came home with her to spend a week. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Swasey and family spent New Year's weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Swasey. Dean Burton came home from BYU to spend the holidays with his mother, Edith. Dannie Dunsmore and son called at the home of Clarence Jones Thursday on his way back to school in Logan. He had been visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn McClure in Neola. Mr. and Mrs. Eric Call and children of Las Vegas, spent Christmas weekend with his mother, Deane Call. Her daughter Dottie also spent Christmas with her. The parents of Janet Oman, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sanders from Fort Wayne, Ind., are moving to Phoenix, Ariz. They spent the Christmas holidays with Janet and Lyle and family. LaVerda Powerll of St. George has been here three weeks visiting with her families, Mr. and Mrs. John Bird and the Arnold Powell's and Arvel Powell's. She left for home Dec. 28. Mrs. Louise Thompson was honored at a luncheon given by the REA directors and staff members. She has worked for the REA for 20 years and retired Dec. 31. They presented her with a lovely watch. The Miles Peterson family gathered at the home of LaMar and Maurine Stevenson in Altamont for their family Christmas party Dec. 17. Here for the weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Miles Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Don Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Donnie Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Kent Angus and Mr. and Mrs. Gary Zobell. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Mohlman and son Scott went to Springville Dec. 30 and spent the night with their son, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Mohlman. They went on to Las Vegas to spend New Years with another son, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Mohlman. Mr. and Mrs. Preston Taylor received word her father Buck Bently, has passed away in Evanston, WyoH Dec. 22. The Taylor family went up to Evanston for the funeral Dec. 24. Chcree Brotherson spent a couple with her grandmother, of days Florence Jessen. Florence took a day off from the store and she and Cherie visited with Gary and Rosalee Jessen, Dean and Margaret Reay and Reay and Beth Jessen. Gary Jessen and Jim Drollinger flew to Missoula, Mont., Wednesday on business. Dale Carroll and son Craig and a friend Brad Peterson from Salt Lake called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Jones one day last week. They also stopped to see Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Powell. e Mr. and Mrs. Leon Morris had the first baby of the new year born in the Vernal Hosptial Jan. 3. Their baby girl will be known as Magnn. The local REA employees gave a retirement party for Louise Thompson at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Tidwell Thursday evening, Jan. 15. They presented her with a lovely centerpiece of silk rosea The group played games and had a snack lunch. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Ames and Gene Mower drove to Pleasant Grove to attend funeral services for Frances Roylance, who was a resident of Altamont for some years. Guests at the home of Gerald and Lucy Jacobson tor the New Year's weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Jenio Oman and Mr. and Mrs. Royland Oman of Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lee spent with Mr. and Mrs. David Oaks and family in Pleasant Grove. Also they visited relatives of Mra Thelma Lee. Spending Christmas in Denver were Mr. and Mrs. Homer Lee. They visited their daughter Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Price. The Deardorff family have purchased the home of Max Rasmussen who recently moved to Vernal. They have moved a house in sections in and they are putting it together. Over the New Years weekend the family of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Wilkenson drove to Moab to attend the funeral of Mitchell Hoffman, who recently died in an accident. Mitchell is a nephew of Mrs. Wilkenson. One day last week Mr. Eugene Abplanalp drove to Salt Lake to attend to his business affaira Mr. and Mrs. Stan Poulson drove to Firth, Idaho, on Wednesday, visiting relatives and returning by way of Salt Lake where they visited other relatives before returning home. On Monday Mrs. Ed Morris drove to Salt Lake with her son Mathew, who met his teacher to return to his school in Colorado Springs. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bench, Salt Lake, were visiting the Clarence W rights over the past weekend.
