Gov. Mike Leavitt has designated March 17-- 3 as Poison Prevention feek in Utah. In conjunction with the event, the Utah Division of Consumer Protection reminds Carbon County parents to take extra care with household chemicals, pesticides and medicine. Utahs representative for the United States Product Safety Commission, the division offers the following tips for Carton County 'residents: Keep all chemicals and medicines locked up. Store in original containers, complete with labels. Read the labels, before using. When products are in use, adults should never let young children out of their right, even when answering the phone or the door. Do not put decorative lamps and candles containing oil where children can reach the items. Lamp oil is highly toxic. Leave the light on when giving or taking medicine. Check the . dosage every time. Avoid taking medicine in front of children. Refer to medicine as medicine" not candy." Clean out the medicinecabinet periodically. Property dispose of unneeded medicines when the illness for which they were prescribed is over. Call the Utah Poison Center immediately in emergencies. The toll-frnumber is Keep Ipecac syrup on hand and use only if the poison center recommends inducing vomiting. Always store pesticides away from childrens reach in a locked cabinet or garden shed. ' Before applying any pesticides indoors or outdoors, remove children and their toys from the area . Keep youngsters away until the area is dry or as recommended on the 14beL Never leave pesticides unattended when in use. Never transfer pesticides to other containers. Children may associate certain containers with food or drink. Alert family members to potential pesticide hazard, especially grandparents and caregiversi For additional information. During the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, Mr. Brown taught music classes at the junior high school and Mrs. Brown taught at the junior high. Carton HighCarton College and the high school. Deane W. Brown, a native of Idaho, met Dorothy Jorgensen while attending Brigham Young University (1937-40- ). . Deane Brown , Deane Brown taught at the junior high school until his death on Jan. 31, 1976. On March 23, some of the students will return to pay tribute to Mrs. Brown as they join the CEU Chamber choir to perform two well remembered numbers. trademark. i Rebecca Bundersoa was recently selected lo participate in the National Youth Leader- ship Forum oo Law in Washington, D.C She joined more than 350 outstanding high school students from across America at the forum. In addition, Rebecca recently aacndcdasemkiarat the University of Utah entitled Passages to Law. After graduating in May, she plans to attend Westminster. Rebecca is the daughter of Sim and Yolanda Bundenonof Wellington. She is the granddaughter of SaOy Arriola and the late Joseph Arriola. A computer literacy workshop is planned March 21 at Castle Heights, starting at 5:30 p.m. Babysitters will be provided for young children. Reeves to teach music and English at Wellington in 1940.
