During the pool play the Eagles lost to Snow College in 3 games, Yavapai College in 3 games, Salt Lake Community College in3 games. Then they lost to Ricks and the College of Southern Idaho each In two games. They then played Dixie State College in the semifinals of the con: eolation bracket, where they lost in 4 . games.' ThcLady Eagles saw some good early season play from sophomore Denise Griffin, who led the team with 70 kills for the tournament, even though she was hampered with : shin splint problems. "Denise (Griffin) Is Just playing great rigid now" said Coach Brent Martindale. "She Is having an allconference season so far, and doing It on ' some really sore shin . . splints.. Also playing well for CEU was sophomores Jenny Applegate, Marci McKinstry and Ashlee Homeland freshmen Shannon Johnson and Elise Kobe:-Thduo setters from CEU, Haky Echols and Juie pariy Thompson, handled thequarterbacklngdutfes throughout the weekend. Eastern Utah was hurt earlier in the week of the tournament when starting right side Brittany Myers wont down with a bad ankle sprain, and missed 90 percent of the tournament. It was a classic rivalry between the two teams, who have played a 5 game match 5 out of the last six meetings in conference play four games of which have been won by the Eagles.
