He has been explor-Inthe countryside around him since he was 8 years old and his dad took him on expeditions out in the hills and deserts. It was the desert that captured the Imagination and devotion of Kokh, who admits thut he finds the mountains boring by comparison. He has frequently acted as trail gukle for youth groups, friends and anyone else with a shared sense of adventure. The desert dog's friend and exploring companion points out that not ony does Koss, the trail guide, know all the places to go, he can tell you the legends and history that accompany the area. This is not just a hobby with Tony explained Dennis Ardohain, its more like an obsession. Koss joked that his wife insists the family will have to bury him on discovery and reverences their history enough to leave them as he found them for some future adventurer. Other photographs reveal the stark beauty of the rock formations, which Koss speaks of with such pussion, outlined against the startling blue of the vast desert his four wheeler. The road to heaven could not possibly be paved for someone as in love with the unbeaten path as Tony. One of the many attractions of four wheeling Is that It is a family activity explained Koss, who feels that the time spent in the desert with his two daughters, ages 18 and 1 1, as well as his wife, age unidentified, has strengthened their family bond. Koss is not a public person, he sky. Desert dogs seldom are. He admitted to being uncomfortable discussing his travels in such a public way, travels which are not restricted to Carbon and Emery counties, but embrace much of the western United States, Koss consented to an Interview for one reason: The era when a man can bring his family of 12 down from the Wasatch Front to go where ever he wants is over. The BLM does not have the manpower to manage the huge expanses of wilderness. We, the users of the land, must learn to seif regulate or the land will be lost to us forever, pointed out the man who stands to lose so much. Responsible use of the land means cleaning up after oneself; carry out what you carry in, and even garbage that someone else left behind. Most Importantly, stay on designated trails, admonishes the avid outdoors man.
