The annual Treat for Food" drive was a hup success, thanks to the 4-- generosity of the citizens of Monticello and LaSal. Teen The Monticello full force in Council was out the week of Halloween, collecting canned and non perishable food items for the local food hank. They divide Monticello into dLtricts and went out to help till the cuplxiards of those 4-- H in need. Monticello Elemen- tary students also pitched in to help. They contributed 200 pounds of food to the effort. The project was initiated four years ago, when members and a few Cub Scouts collected fond. County Ambassador Kreig Adair took on the project in its second year and has run it since, with support and help from the Teen Council. In the first three years, a total of 1,100 pounds of food were collected. This was the most successful for the project, with bringing in over 1,600 pounds of food, which they delivered to Terri Harris, Regional Independent Living Coordinator at the local DCFS office. 4-- 4-- H The food collected will be enough to provide a weeks worth of food for over 400 children. The group reported that the project w'as a lot of fun, and that every house visited was willing to give food to the worthy cause. The kids had a great time bringing their food together, getting the weights, and seeing the DCFS office fill with food. Adair said. Service is a great thing.
