Noni Vincent, La Sal w.--' v s THE SAN JUAN RECORD Wednesday, October 16, 2002 "ia , - Page 7 Night of one act plays at MHS Students at Monticello High School, under the direction of Patti Husted, have been rehearsing for five weeks for their presentation of three plays on October 23 and 24. One of the plays was intended for elementary school students, but the number of high school students at tryouts was so great that a third play was opened to them so every student who tried out could one-a- ct ibis's' participate. A large group of disappointed elementary students will present two plays in the middle of December. The first play, The Old Lady Shows Her Medals, is a story of a lonely woman in England during World War I who has no son fighting in the war. She is shunned because of this, so she moves to a new place and pretends she has a son. Imagine the surprise when the pretended son shows up. Cast members are Cynthia Harris, Niels Palmer, LoyRctta Crane, Katie Andrews, Liesl Jack and Andrew Carrao with Samantha Harris as student director. The junior high play, A Mad Breakfast, finds the audience visiting a boarding house where one renter invited a researcher of the mentally insane to visit, making the researcher think that the boarding house is a mental institution and all the boarders insane. The clever cast includes Jeremy Tibbs, Kelley Argyle, Melanie Frost, Kimberly Haller, Teina Ilazelton, Kayla Ilolyoak, Jenelle Jack, Travis Tibbs, Justin Tibbs, Becky Francom, Raymond Munson and student director Andrew Carrao. The evening concludes with Florence Unlimited". The actors show up at the home of a wealthy bachelor rumored to be dying and leaving a fortune to Florence, who inspired him. Of course, all the visitors are Florence and each claims to be the inspiration. The cast includes Amanda Frost, Jade Argyle, Sheila Wallace, Roxanne Briggs, Amanda Fuller and Elizabeth Weatherford with Kayla Ramsay as student director. Because each play has its own setting, it is exciting to sec the stage change so quickly. Stage crew students are becoming experienced with the new lighting system and have been involved in several workshops on scene painting techniques. The shows will be presented in the auditorium at MHS Wednesday and Thursday, October 23 and 24 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $4 and all seats are reserved.
