Blanding and Monticello are no exception. In the months leading up to Randees recent sentencing, we have received literally hundreds of calls, letters and visits from the folks in support of our situation. We would like to thank all of these people for the acts of support and encouragement we have received. Our daughters, family members and friends have helped us so much to survive these trying times. We appreciate all of you so much. We are truly blessed to know so many wonderful people. We would especially like to thank Shanni and Dave Call and Mr. Brad Rich for going above and beyond. They worked tirelessly to achieve the goal. Many thanks, Randee and Lillian Bayles The Saa Juan Record welcomca letten from our readers. One interesting relic we have received recently is from Karl Barton of Verdure. It ia the original note written on the 9th of May, 1887, by Mrs. Amasa Barton (Feenie Hyde) telling of the murder of her husband by a Navajo, and sent by Posey, the Piute, to Bluff, urging somebody to come quick, as she was there with her mother and two babies at Rincone, ten miles down the river from Bluff. "The only thing worrying the backers of the bill is how the horses are going to respond to the toning-u-p which college heads have given female riders. Equine quadrupeds will of necessity be forced to buck their charming riders in a more dignified fashion, or run the risk of incurring the severe disapproval ofthe dean of women and of the army men who have the classes in charge. Officials objected on the grounds that the levis often appeared with legs slashed in a fringe to the knees, fit the coeds like the traditional paper on the wall, and that the plaid shirts were worn half unbuttoned with shirt-tail- s "Gone are the days of lounging about on campus lawns in dirty levis. Tor relaxation the college women must now recline against a background of white roses and delicately poise a riding crop behind each ear to satisfy campus officials, according to one irate horse fancier.
