State honors announced Academic All A number of local athletes have been recognized for their prowess, not only on the athletic field, but also in the classroom. The Utah High School Activities Association recently released Academic All State teams. Leading the team on the 2A football list is Bret Burtenshaw of San Juan High School. All twelve members of the Academic All State football team have a perfect 4.0 grade point average. San Juan High School is also represented on the Academic All State tennis teams, where Debbie Laws and Mary Pugh are listed. The Monticello Buckaroos and the San Juan Broncos not only sw'ept first and second place in the 2A cross country All-Sta- San Juan advances to a rematch with Grantsville in the semifinals. The winner advances to the championship game, to take on the winner of South Summit and Juab. San Juan w'on a close game against Grantsville earlier in the year, taking advantage of Grantsville turnovers and relying on strong special team play to secure the win. North Summit avoided punting through much of the game, going for it every time they had fourth down and short yardage. They only punted once, but they paid for it when Jered Tate returned the punt 51 yards for a touchdown. A wall of blockers and a crushing block by Trent Jones sprung Tate for the TD.
