(505) 1 San Juan College's intercultural week, entitled 'Open Your World: A Celebration of Cultures, will open with a Music of the World concert featuring the Durango Choral Society and WomenFolk Singers with special guests the Fort Lewis College Percussion Ensemble and the Bala Sinem Native American Choir. Audience members will be treated to unique and exciting music from all comers of the globe. The concert will include folk and traditional music from South America, Russia, Japan, Africa and more. Linde Mack will conduct the 75voice Chord Society with Christi Livingston on piano. John C. Pennington directs the 8 person percus- sion ensemble. Hubert Williams directs the Invoice Bala Sinem Choir. The program will open with the Durango Choral Society and FLC Percussion Ensemble performing an African welcome piece. Other music will include a Japanese folk song, a piece from 'Finian's Rainbow,' an Apache chant, a spiritual and much more.This concert was sold out in Durango in March, so if you weren't able to get tickets then, now is your chance.
