Commission brief by Anna Adair At the April 10 meeting of the San Juan County SHAKE SHACK NIZHONI BRIDGES presents Robin Mayforth Com- mission, Commissioners: heard a request from the San Juan Central Recreation Board to participate in repairs that are necessary in order for the Blanding Swimming Pool to open this summer. Health Inspector Rick Meyers reports that the pool can not open unless repairs, valued at $20,000, are made. Commissioners said that they have no funds to allocate for the current year, but would consider a loan to the district to ensure the opening of the pool. They suggested contacting the City of Blanding to discuss participation in the project before returning to the for Commission final approval; accepted the Substance Abuse Area Plan for fiscal year 2001 as presented by Dan Rogers. The plan is required in order to continue the county contract with the State of Utah and describes the money that is spent on substance abuse programs in the county; heard of a $23,000 refund to the county from the Utah Public Retirement Fund for payments made to the long term disability fund; heard about an upcoming meeting to discuss proposals and ideas for an expanded visitors center; heard a report that a policy about the maintenance of trails in the county will be ready in the next few weeks for the Commissions approval; approved building permits for Phillip Glaze for a residence at Wilson Arch, Randall Pemberton for a home near Blanding, William Duran and Ivor Bradshaw for homes in La Sal, and Chance Shum-wa- y for a home on Dude Ranch Road; and approved the hire of Benjamin Smith as road laborer, and Malva Jones and Ruby Rogers in the visitors center.
