Show THE ZEPHYRSEPTEMBER 1993 95 ite-Hanksv-ille This is now. Road 1993: PAGE 21 was able to find the exact camera location in both photos. (Above) By watching the alignment of landscapes in the distance, it was possible to stand in Mr. Kreischer's footsteps. And it was remarkable to see what had and had not changed. The cottonwood tree in the right foreground is still there, although looking like it's approaching the end of a long life. Other trees in the distance have also survived, some better than others. The drainage of North Wash has completely changed since 1959. There is barely a trace of the road. The new highway, built in the early 70s, follows a new alignment, 100 yards to the east. (Below) The old road has been recontoured and paved over. Yet rocks on the talus slope in the distance haven't moved an inch...Ewrything changes, and everything stays the same. I |
