I'm not sure I can convey what I felt there: the penetrating stillness of Grandview Point at sunset; the spacious, golden silence of Chester Park one August morning; the fear and exhilaration of watching ds cross Elephant Hill Road. Well, I tried. fear we My greatest may lose the canyon country as we know tt. A new road here (maybe along the Book Cliffs), sell some National Park land there. Little by little - the same old story. Next thing you know, people will be flying Into Moab International to ride the new Grand View MonoraiL Now, I wouldnt have known about these present problems of creeping development If I hadn't stumbled Into a copy of the Zephyr. I very much appreciate not only the Information you provide, but your voice raised to protect the canyon country. Someday many more people may understand the Importance of wilderness. Meanwhile, we need voices like yours to shout the message from the mesas and canyons and anywhere else appropriate or Inappropriate. As a good fellow once said: "If the life of natural things, millions of years old, does not seem sacred to us, then what can be sacred?" We wage a tattle to maintain the integrity of what Is sacred to us.
