Flowers for every spouse and a special certificate recognizing the sacrifice and efforts of each were present-- , ed by Post Commander Colonel George A. Carruth and his wife. v Ann Camithi was also one of the featured speakers (her husband was the other!) In her remarks she reflected on her background as an "Army brat" and the many moves, schools, jobs, and places she has seen. Child care was provided free or at reduced rates for the affair by the child care center, and Dorothy Keeling of community services hand lettered all of the names on the certificates. Coordinator for the affair Protocol Officer Capt. David Stoddard spent a lot of time trying to get. the spouses dinner paid for, but to no avail, we all did, however, enjoy a full prime rib dinner at a reduced rate thanks to Mr. Toy and the community club staff. Stoddard "drafted an army of volunteers to assist him, who in turn drafted other volunteers. HHC 1SG Bernard Mindiola got some on the spot instruction in color coordination as he assisted Mrs. Carruth in handing out the carnations to the spouses. SP4 Lou Ritter picked up the flowers in town that were provided thru the good offices of Vera Zaccardi, while his wife Carol got her baptism of fire recording the events for Dateline Dugway on the video camera. To all of these folks, and the many we must have forgotten to recognize, we thank each of you for your efforts at making these very special people feel special.
