Show PDlt Thursday, January 26, 1984 Wildcats by Sp4 Tim Karas Coming off of a previous loss, at the hands of the Dons from Spanish Fork, the Lady Mustangs exploded and de9 feated South Summit for their second win in three 72-5- regional contests. The game, which was played January 19 at Dugway, was decided for all practical purposes in the first . quarter. The Mustangs totally dominated the Wildcats, outscoring them 21-Trying to keep from getting wiped off i the court. South Summits offense finally got on track in the second quarter. Led by Sheri Peterson's nine points, the Wildcats scratched away at the Mustang defense and came away with 23 points. But even then, the Wildcats found themselves down by the same amount. S: ; Dugway remained on top with a 15 point lead, In that first half, the Mustangs two best scorers, Marianne Wilde and Monica Moe accounted for more points than the entire South Summit team combined. Monica ''nailed in 17 points worth, 12 of them coming in the second quarter, while Marianne was one point behind her with 16. Both teams slowed down the pace in the third quarter. Even though the Mustangs scored 8 points less than they did in the previous quarter, it was still enough to maintain their comfortable lead. South Summit managed to come up with even less - 14 points. Going into the fourth quarter with a 3 lead, the Mustangs pulled back on the reins 'and trotted home the rest of the way. Despite scoring three points less than the Wildcats Dugway still found themselves hanging onto the victory, The win upped their overall record to TVing for high honors were Monica Moe and Marianne Wilde, as they each were able to notch 30 points onto the scoreboard. The Mustangs will get another shot to embarrass the Miners.
