UTAH HIGHWAY 95 IN NORTH CANYON In 1956, photographer Charles Kreischer floated Glen Canyon and made his way to Hite Ferry from Hanksville via the old U-95, a sometimes passable dirt road that went east from Hite to Blanding. Almost half a century later, all signs of the dirt road are gone. The ‘new’ paved highway (it was completed in the late 1960s after the rise of Lake Powell shut down the old ferry) is to the right, about 100 yards. But the old cottonwood still clings to life and the distant mountains seem unchanged (from a distance)...JS = ee PAGE7 | |
