THE ARCHES ‘VISITOR CENTER' (above right) was just this wayside exhibit near Balanced Rock until major road and building construction began in the late 50s. UNDER CONSTRUCTION: Glen Canyon Dam began to rise from the river bed in the late 1950s. By 1963, impounded waters from the reservoir would flood one of the most magnificent canyons on earth. |
