Show T Brothers accused of securities fraud charges denied By Jason Bergman staff writer Two brothers have been charged with securities fraud and selling securities without a license for allegedly bilking several Cache County residents of hundreds of thousands of dollars An attorney for one of the brothers saidjhe charges are unfounded Bryan Anderson 60 of Logan is charged with four second-degre- e felony counts of securities fraud four third-degrfelony counts of sales of securities by an unlicensed broker and one third-degr- ee felony count of employing an unlicensed agent Anderson’s brother Bruce of Aberdeen Idaho is charged with seven of foe same counts Bryan is charged with including ee securities fraud sales of securities by an unli- censed broker and employing an unlicensed agent On Friday Bryan Anderson’s attorney Gregory Skabelund declined to comment on the charges filed against his client in March by the Cache County Attorney's Office Lyle Hillyard attorney for Bruce Anderson said he is still investigating the charges against his client and is unclear as to why they were filed in the first place “We were quite surprised to receive the information on the filing” Hillyard said “We’re having a hard time understanding how that all ties in to criminal violations in light of how Bruce does his work The attorneys I deal with all say this is not a violation They make some statements in there which my client denies ever occurred’’ — "My client’s going to deny there was According to an investigation done by the Utah Division of Securities the Andersons were not licensed to sell securities in the state of Utah when they offered investment opportunities to at least four Cache County residents It is unclear the exact amount of money involved in the case the alleged frauds occurred between January 2000 and May 2002 Cache County Deputy Attorney Bruce Ward who is prosecuting the case was unavailable for comment Friday afternoon A preliminary hearing in Bryan Anderson’s case is scheduled for June 30 A preliminary hearing and initial appearance for Bruce is scheduled for May 20 Preliminary hearings are held to determine if prosecutors have enough evidence to warrant a trial that any criminal viola- tion in what occurred" -
