cialist Susan Worf stepped in to teach the students the basics of producing scenery “Originally I went to the school and helped design the scenery I talked with them and tried to pull out of them what they wanted” said Worf “But there was no time to instruct” So Worf and the Utah Festival Opera Company began a pilot program at Fielding instructing students on everything from using their imagination to draw images they see while listening to music with their eyes closed to drawing animals upside down “Working upside down turns off the left side of the brain” Worf explained adding that students would choose a picture to copy and would put it upside down beside their drawing paper “Then it’s just drawing shapes It’s like putting a puzzle together” In no time students were beginning to understand the fundamentals of the visual arts said Worf “It’s really exciting It's fun to watch their eyes light up when they get it” she said “It’s all a process of building confidence an original way of looking at life and increasing abstract problem solving abilities” Jones agreed that the students displayed incredible talent and learned all that they could from Worf By Darrell Edward Ehiiick Briggs has been on a search for five years to try and figure out how to get a piece of missing property from the crash site back to family of the victims While hiking at the crash site during summer object up and it was a pearl that had broken from the strand of a necklace The pearl had lost most of its luster except for the small part that was shimmering in the summer grasses “It looked almost like a piece of wood" Briggs said Instead of leaving the pearl at the base of a memorial monument where people often leave scraps of metal that sheered off upon impact he took it hoping to give the small pearl to the family of one of the victims “I tried to find somebody The problem soon became who would I give it to and how would I get it back to them” Briggs wondered He tried to search down
