his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Southern Utah University The knowledge Coach Cartar possesses came from his playing days at CSI University of Nevada Lis Vegas and two years of a college only wc need the support of (he community for such things as funding and other events like the Sheryl Crow concert It would he very unwise lo upset the community and in turn alienate the school from the rest of the community While the Board of Trustees have some valid complaints tk rights to freedom of speech and expression arc of paramount importance For example when tk college condones or even questions an action that brings all controversial issues into subjection This should not he the Board of Trustees job for tk simple reason that they arc not paid to distribute their morals into the community Their job should he to make rules and regulations that protect and promote all students' constitutional freedoms This idea has been upheld nationally when in Trujillo v Live 322 F Supp 1266 ( 97 1 ) a court handed down a decision that maintained that neitkr students nor an editor atuld he puniskd forexercising the right lo freedom of speech Accordingly in this particular decision any arguments the Board of Trustees may have are insignificant to the freedom of both the newspaper and the students and should therefore he cast aside in the name of lik'rty Because of this I think (hat even though it is important to have community support if one article offended people so much that they turned tk'ir Kicks on the school something is obviously wrong with them It is always good to have public support hut there is only one true law and (hat is protecting the rights guaranteed under our constitution It is the most important document ever formulated in (his country and it outweighs oilier problems or concerns tk Board of Trustees may or may not have liberty of the students at the College of Eastern Utah Therefore I ainccming challenge anyone with an opinion on anything
