Show Page 4 December 2 1993 CEU Theater Dept The College of Eastern Utah Theater Department will present integral part of the story including the aunts (Megan Miles B PUrowan Dec 2 3 4 Mama by John Dnitcn December 2 3 and 4 in CEU’s Geary Theater According to Don Adams the play's director Remember Mama is a nostalgic story about an immigrant family from Norway living in America at the turn of the century Katrin Hanson (played by Shanny Wilkes of Salt Lake City) is a writer who fondly remembers growing up in San Francisco The play follows her life and family as she grows into womanhood She weaves delightful talcs about her proud and determined mother (Shonie Christensen Salt Lake City) and the values she instilled in her family 7 Remember Mama is a play the whole family can enjoy" Adams continued "It portrays an old fashioned family values that arc still applicable today" The play centers on Katrin’s immediate family of Nels (Brandon Jones Salt Lake City) Christine (Tisha Lofly Elmo) Dagmar (Monica Madsen Price) Papa (Patrick Quinn Hebcr City) and Mama But Adams explained the extended family also plays an Emily Scott Price and Keziah Richardson Salt Lake) Other members of the large cast include Cody Pace and Mclcda Tresner Kearns Matt Hall Michael Mays Helper Robert McEvoy Cleveland Clarissa Parry South Jordan Amber Woodcox Lehi Kent Blake Blanding Kathy Bclnap Price and Allyson Fairbanks Highland Van Dnitcn adapted the play from the novel by Kathryn Forbes entitled Mama's Bank Account which was based on Forbes' childhood The play was first produced on 1944 and has constantly been in production by amateur groups since I Remember Mama will be presented in the Geary Theater on the College of Eastern Utah campus in Price on Thursday Friday and Saturday Dec 2 3 and 4 Curtain time is 7:30 pm Advance tickets are available from the CEU cashier's window 0 extension or by calling 334 Admission is $3 for adults $4 for students and senior citizens Children under six are not admitted 637-212- Ballet Repretoiy Ensemble presents Christmas Conceit CEU Ballet Repertory Ensemble will be prefenning on Dcc16 17 18 at 7:30 in the Geary Theater This year the performance will include the traditional Nutcracker and Let Patineurs Tchaikovsky's music will provide the background for the Nutcracker who becomes a handsome prince and leads a young girl into the snow and the land of the sugar plumb fairy This holiday favorite is an opportunity to highlight the talents of the repertory dancers as well as 30 children from the DCE a program for young dancers at CEU Proceeding the Nutcracker will be a ballet about a party of ice skaters and their experience on a winter's afternoon Let Patineurs Tickets in advance will be available at the cashier's window in the main building starting Dec 13 The ticket prices are $3 for adults $4 for students senior citizens and children and $2 for students with an activity card OR QUiyi1'!? mcmcsra orrta j per vMl 7 Romember Mama"plays Dec 24 1093 (Photo by: Aaron Brockbank) r a Us the season for service by Darcey Martinez Arts & Entertainment Editor The holiday season is here and many opportunities are available for those who want to get into the spirit of giving Christmas Regalia is a local project that groups organizations and members of the community sponsor Christmas tree and donate them to the Regalia After the tree! are donated people come to the BDAC and bid on the trees All of the proceeds will go to help prevent child abuse Volunteers are needed to help clean up on Dec 4 at 8 ajn in the BDAC One of the trees that will be in the Regalia is an angel tree The angels are going to have a Christmas gift name on it such as a dump truck or Barbie dolL Any person can choose an angel and purchase the item on the angel These items will be given to a child or family for a Christmas gift People are also needed to make decorations for the trees Those who are interested contact Kathy Painter in the job placement center Angel trees that are sponsored by the Salvation Army and Channel 2 news are located in any credit union throughout Utah People can go and choose a name off a tree in a credit union and buy gifts for a child that is less fortunate Sub for Santa is another option This program’s goal is to provide Christmas for selected families that cannot provide Christmas for their children They are in need of volunteers to clean used toys go on a shopping spree to buy toys and distribute toys to families Another opportunity to continue the spirit of help ihrought the year is through service to the elderly People are needed to drive the elderly to doctor's appointments or even to dances and other places For information on participating in any of these activities contact Kathy Painter in the job placement center : Gallery East hosts "Survival of the Fittest" Gallery East will host the ADSLC 1993 awards show "Survival of the Fittest" The exhibit will include Utah professional graphic designers and art directors The exhibit is juried by three San Francisco judges Jennifer Morla is the president and creative director of Morla design She has worked on many projects ranging from MTV animation to store interior design for Levi Strauss Michcal Wilde another judge has done work for Coors EA Sprats Lcvolor and many others Michcal Vandcrbyl is the dean of the School of Design in San Fransisco The exhibit will be up from Dcc1-1- 3 Gallery hours arc from 8:30 am to 3 pjn every Monday-Frida- y Evening and Saturday viewing can be made by 0 calling James L Young at ext 297 637-212- |
