This year the group are once again planning to visit Southern Utah on May 13 14 and IS The 1 I Vt I trip will start out with a tour CEU art Instructor Cliff Bergera assists Nats Wilson in proparing work for annual student art show opening through Bicknell Bottom's this week in the Gallery East Photo by Mark Seely fc k Student Art Show features the best college artists CEU’s Annual Student Art Show is being juried today by the art faculty and will go on exhibit in Gallery East next week The show will include photography silk screening print making drawings swlpturcscerarrdcs water color andoil paintings Under the director of the Brent Haddock James L Young and Cliff Bergers students have been fipreparing works all year for the exnal show When they jury the hibition they will look for what best represents quality work on a student level Haddock said “Most of the work is for sale" Student's art woric will be Look back on by Darcey Marlines staff writer Memories fade but a video yearbook will last forever and luckily for students at CEU they can purchase these memories in form of a video yearbook for S3 These videos will be on sale in the student government room from today until the end of the year If one is interested in purchasing a video yearbook they must pay in advance and wait one week for their inwait is vestment The reason for the week-lon- g because video yearbooks will be reproduced one-by-o- ne The video yearbook will contain 40 minutes of activities sporti intramurals and events One of the highlights of the video according to Stephanie Brock-ban- k historian is "segments of this year have been to put the music of Van Halen's song Right Now1" Brockbank was in charge of this year's video yearbook and was responsible for the video's production including filming and splicing with the help of Jason Lucllen and Brent ArchubakL Brockbank also stated ”1 pul in over 100 hours to make this video yearbook It was hard work due to limited equipment” Even though it was a big task that required lots of time Brockbank is excited about how it turned out and wanted everyone to know "it's all that and a bowl ofgriti” Stephanie Brockbank catches CEU's best 3 for the video yearbook 02-9- given awards for the best in their chosen discipline and medium Haddock added that an outstanding sophomore art student will be noted m the show Gallery Easts Student Art Show will officially open during the Art Splash on May 21 with a reception 92-9- 3 Watcrflow Management Area and Egan Fish hatchery From there the excursion bus will take the group to Capital Reef National Park where they will hike to Hickman Arch That evening they will set up base camp at Escalante State Park The itinerary for the second day will be to hike to Calf Creek Falls and Petrified Forest and then possibly travel to Kodachiome Basin The excursion will end on the 15th with a tour of Bryce Canyon National Park All attending the excursion are given the option to obtain one hour worth of credit in either Life Science 270 or in Geology 270 This year we are all booked that's why I encourage anyone who is interested to sign up early and quickly” said Dr Lamont Arnold Next years excursion sight has not been determined he added Coles returns to CEU for reading Award winning writer Katharine Coles will open Art Splash with an appearance in CEU’s Readers' Series at 8 pjn Thursday May 20 in the Student Activity Center's Little Theatre An instructor at Westminster College Mi Coles is a poet and fiction writer whose work has ap-in North American Review The New Republic and many others Her first book of poems The One Right Touch was rc- cently published She has been honored by the Utah Arts Council the Houston Arts Council and the Academy of American Poets Admission to the Readers' Series if free and the lie is invited to attend CEU Video Yearbook pub-pcar- ed |
