i - - ' Kirsten Hintze Christensen Jeffery Neils Jordan Five Utah residents have been named the 1989-9- 0 Outstanding Students at the College of Eastern Utah in Price in an awards ceremony held May 21 According to Dean of Student Life Jay Andrus CEU selects one male and female student from both freshman and sophomore classes as well as a student who returns to colafter lege establishing a career or family to receive the recognition Kristie Eliason Stansbury Park was named Outstanding Female Sophomore Kelly Jake Shewmake West Valley City received the honors as Outstanding Male Sophomore Shelly Hughes Standing was named Outstanding Female Freshman and West Valley City resident Jeff Jordan shared freshman recognition as the Outstanding Male Kirsten Hintze Christensen of Price received the award for Outstanding Student "These arc the students who effort into their entire extra put college career They are not only strong students but active participants in many other campus programs They help to organize the activities and events that enrich the educational experience for all the students at CEU" Andrus said In addition to serving as activities vice president for the Associated Students of CEU Eliason is also the arts and entertainment editor of the student newspaper the head songlcadcr for the CEU cheering squad and a representative for the Utah Intercollegiate Assembly The former Tooele High School student body presi dent is also active in CELTs Writer's and International Clubs and participated in the Wilderness Classroom program While attending CEU Eliason was named to the National Dean's List earned the 1989 Student Choice Award and received the recognition as the Outstanding Female Freshman last year Shewmake a graduate of Granger High School was in- - non-tradi-tio- Non-tradiHon- al strumcntal in establishing and promoting a number of campus activities as the chairman of the student government Clubs council and editor of the student newspaper In addition to founding the Writer's and International Gubs he also chaired the Cans for Christmas drive which provided canned foods for needy families in Carbon County during the last holi Cf Kelly Jake Shewmake Kristie Marie EBason SheSyHughes 5-iV- -
