Show living and breathing underwater I also saw the Extremely Fancy Goldfish swim about and watched the Jumbo Super Fancy guppies dart back and forth in the aquarium Besides being an excellent salesman Kems is literally willing to go the extra mile for the customer "Pr Fish" as he calls himself will make housccalls free of charge driving as far as Emery in Emery County approximately 4S miles from Price He will also take special orders and help others locate local dog groomers at reasonable prices He will even give you Ups on the locations of cats and dogs of various breeds that are for sale After graduating from CEU this spring Kems plans to conunue his business in Price He says he would like to go to medical school or open a chain of pet stores under his ownership Either way he has made a good start for himself He gives credit to his parents for the help and advice they have given him and he also mentioned Lavell King Lamont Arnold and Bonnie Nichols for giving him tips on how to get started When I asked him if he ever got tired of the same routine he said "I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't love it" TheEagle-pag- e 5 Upcoming events April 27 "Uranium Frenzy" Reading 8 pm SAC LT 28 Last Day to Drop Classes Womens Conference April 830 am-- 2 April 29 pm SAC CEU Choir Conoert 730 pm SLC Basebafl team at Dixie 1 and 3 pm May 4 5 & 6 Something's Afoot" 730 pm GT May 13 Athletic Awards Dinner featuring U of U footbal coach 530 pm SAC AR Class of 1 989 graduation list ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE Lynn Ivon AbpUnifp Angelyn Adams Seth B Allred Lonnie Lynn Andcnon Cory W Anderson Michael J Angotii Cheryl Ann Atwood Bruce Pet store owner provides finances forCEU students by Cordy West staff writer When driving by the small shops located in North Street Plaza in Price one has gotto wonder how a College of Eastern Utah student has established himself as a successful business entrepreneur and is having fun at the same time This idea prompted me to stop at his shop and wait almost 20 minutes to speak to its busy owner Tom Kcms At first glance the shop seemed rather small and crowded with only six people in the shop but if you took the time to count the number of fish hermit crabs gcrbils hamsters and rats the actual number was astounding Kerns full time CEU student and owner of the "Pci Gallery" located at 10S W 100 N in Price has been quite busy for the last year and a half Every day Kerns attends classes until 1 1 am at the blest and then heads over to his shop to begin feeding time Kems is no stranger to this routine At age 6 he received his first aquarium and at present count he has ten aquariums three rabbits a cat a dog a bind and a guinea pig at home At one time Kerns had IS aquariums at home "My house was starting to look like Sea World” Kems quipped "so what better ptaoe to expand than to a pet store?" When he proposed the idea of starting Price's newest pet store to his parents they thought he was crazy But they backed him anyway After borrowing some money from his parents to get started and purchasing his business license Kems was in business on his own However he warns that it took more than money to get him started He extensively researched everything from pet diseases to pet food For instance Kems could easily tell you why it is wrong to clean your fish tank every month and what hermit crabs like to eat best (If you're curious they like peanut butter among other delica- cies) Not only docs he know about his pets he knows which plants work best in die fish tank and which pet food is really full of vitamins and minerals He is also busy testing the quality of the water in his fish tanks several limes a week and besides selling pets he sells brand name aquariums pet cages how-t- o books pet medicines and other pet accessories While I was there I saw many intriguing animals Before I left Kems made sure 1 met Iggy his iguana Feeding time for the to watch In fish of the temperamental nature was also fascination I watched as a little goldfish swam for his life while his predator cornered him and quickly swallowed him up I also got a modem-da- y look at a primitive fish a lungfish Yes it was there spell-bindi- ng L Atwood Anthony Jamei Bauo Michael A Beacco Terry Bell
