By Connie Spanton of the Eagle Staff spirit many times When was the last time you went and supported an Eagles men’s or women’s basketball game Now I don’t just mean who went to the game I want to know how many of you went and cheered I attended the CEU and Snow game a couple of weeks ago and our support for our team was disgusting Snow College had just as many or more students as we did and it was our home game To make it even worse Snow cheered twice as loud and twice as much as we did Hey I know we were getting creamed but does this mean we should sit down and pout just because things aren’t going our way? Now we complain because the student body officers don’t plan enough activities but when they do who goes to them? Maybe 50 students and those 50 are the same ones that support activities all of the time Personally I’d like to dance with some different guys every time not the same ones continually Don't applaud yourselves student government Maybe if you got organized and publicized your acitivites better you would get a better turn out How many times have you waited to the last moment and haven’t told the students what’s going on until the day before or the day of the activity How do you expect we the students to support our school if you don’t let us know what’s going on so we can make plans ahead of time Another thing ASCEU officers how is your spirit and pride? you’re the leaders so lead us Oh you’ve been trying Well try even harder and show us you have spirit When the meeting on the delivery of mail to the Townhouse was held not one single student government officer was present and three of them live at Townhouse I challenge every student at CEU and myself to get off our rears and show our pride and spirit Maybe if we had pride and spirit our stay at CEU wouldn’t be so blah AMS president Monday’s activities include a free stomp in the ballroom and an ice cream cone from the snack bar Tuesday’s activities include movies in the student activity center and a free small drink from the snack bar The movies include “Stir Crazy” Stripes” and “Phantasm” Students will be toll fraud prosecuted for the Students TaSMS Connie Spanton Tedann Olsen Claire Maxwell Susan Polster Utah of Eastern The official student publication of the College servand Information to Is dedicated giving Price UT The Eagle exeditorial The It opinions represents student to oody the ice of the reflect not ao viewpoints necessarily pressed in the Eagle or statf students faculty the administration making long distance calls and not paying for them continues to be a major problem on college campuses in Utah and around the nation according to Joann L Couch District Manager -Security for Mountain Bell “This type of calling known as toll fraud can be accomplished one of several ways" Couch explained She cited giving the operator an unauthorized third number or unauthorized credit card number as two of the most common techniques “Electronic toll fraud or the use of a socalled “blue box” is a much more sophisticated method but one that has become increasingly mon” she added “Many students com- view placing such calls as little more than a prank” Couch continued “In fact it is a violation of the law with stiff penalties including fines and possible jail sentence” “Technological advances within the industry have made tracing of illegally placed calls much easier” she said “Also” she said “the Bell System has committed sizeable work groups in many major cities to the task of identifying and finding those parties who charge calls to a On Wednesday Scott Miller is performing a concert in the cafeteria at 11:45 am in conjunction with the Miss CEU lunch auction Miller will perform a pillow concert later that evening at 8 pm in the ballroom Free candy bars will be given in the snack bar Thursday’s activities center around the Miss CEU pageant with the luncheon personal interviews and pageant Free twinkies will be given in the third number or credit card snackbar without authorization” “It is not our intention to Friday is “Beat CNCC Day” frighten students” Couch with the men's team playing a explained “but it is important rematch against the Spartans that they be made aware of the from Rangely at 7:30 pm in possible consequences of their the armory Free bags of chips will be given in the snack bar actions” She cited another aspect of Chavez said that the free toll fraud of which many snacks are available for men students may not be aware students faculty and staff “Like shoplifting the actual The free haircuts are by the cost of the crime is paid for by cosmetology students with honest customers” she con- appointments made by calling cluded Conviction for toll fraud can carry a fine of up to $10000 and a prison term of up to 15 years or both According to Dr Ralph Vanderiinden Dean of Student Life “Several CEU students were prosecuted last year for toll fraud by Mountain Bell' the career center's cosmetology department The legs contest will be going on all week with students guessing whose legs belong with what Miss CEU con- testant Chavez said the winner will be announced at the basketball game The winner will receive $25 SUSC offers CEU students scholarships L°na Colby Richard Chavez Krlstan Smith includes free haircuts snacks movies concert and a dance said Richard Chavez What is this missing part?
