Show CEU— Friday Dec 2 Southpaws stand up for your rights J mean lefts! By Miriam Smrtti Even in this day of opportunity and Justice for all things are not equal Although we hear a lot about human rights when was the time somebody mentioned Left-hand- ed human lefts? people are the most discriminated against minority around It's all "north" for the southpaw In order to more fully understand this discrimination let's look at a few of the obstacles encountered by a lefty in today’s world ‘ A major obstacle is met when the left-hand- ed person begins his (or here) formal education — writing with a pen is tough Right-hande- rs have their hand to the right of and below the pen But lefthanders have their hand to the left of and above the tip of the pen which is also where the ink is No matter how fast the ink dries the ride of their writing hand turns blue and their print smears across the paper Even spiral notebooks present a problem Hie rings can get tough to write around The basic necessity of eating poses its own problems for the southpaw Not only must he spend the meal time elbowing the righty at his ride proper etiquette calls for serving everything on the right ride Have you ever tried to catchers buy a mitt a spin reel belt or a buckle? Try getting a wrist watch with the winding knob on the left Have you ever seen a TV with knobs on the left? Pottery wheels turn the wrong way Trombone slides are on the right Try dialing a telephone left-hand-ed left-hand-ed left-hand- ed left-hand- ed I think by now you are beginning to set the right — I mean the left point Yet despite these many ob- encountered stacles have several risen to fame and some to left-hande- rs fortune Included among these are: 1 Charlie Chaplin British actor and director 2 Jimmy Connors UJS tennis player 3 Clarence Darrow US defense attorney 4 Leonardo da Vinci Italian artist and inventor 5 Gerald Ford US President 6 Judy Garland actress and singer 7 George II US King of England 8 Jack the Ripper British murderer 9 Sandy Koufax US baseball pitcher 10 Harpo Marx US comedian and harpist 11 Paul McCartney British rock composer and ringer 12 Michelangelo Italian artist Babe Ruth US baseball player 14 Tiberius Roman emperor 15 Harry S Truman US President There is also one monopoly held by the1 lefties — have you ever seen a toilet flush handle on 13 1177--3 CEU presents of the Moon" " Dark the right?
