| Show Tuesday November 18 THE GOLDEN EAGLE 1969 Poetry Forum Page Three Variety Show Held of the main events of CEU’s homecoming is the annual Variety Show This year’s show held on the 7th of November and hosted by Dick Nourse proved to be one of the best the college has seen Included on the program was a variety of special talent numbers presented by the college and Cap bon Emery and Notre Dame high schools Sharon Long and Carolee Larsen winners of the queen talent contest also presented their talent Four clubs presented their skits in competition The LDSSA's skit entitled "Happiness is Findof ing Yourself” was a take-of- f the movie Camelot “Happiness is Just What You Make It” a skit about Charlie Brown and his friends was presented by the ABC Club The Freshman Class presented a melodrama entitled “Happiness is the Spirit of 71” The New Dorm’s skit depicting life in a coed dorm was entitled “Happiness is Living in a Coed One Disillusionment By Barbara Simper God what a world— I can't understand it I’m so mixed up within I live But I merely watch cannot I bring myself to become involved want to— need to— I I can't But I Hyprocitically I watch— I observe Am I really what I seem? Am I really loving-hatin- g— laughing— it all crying— or is a terrifying dream? Oh God! If only I knew Do I really love the things I say I do— do I really feel so deeply or is it just a conditioned response? Hell I don't know Sure I love him I mean have all the necessary emotions and reactions— Don’t I? Dorm” At the conclusion of the program the winners of the competitions were announced LDSSA received the trophy for the best skit The trophy for the best window display went to the Freshman Gass The highlight of the evening I know I do If of course SEE Debate Coach to Help Tournament The debate coach of the College of Eastern Utah Neil Warren has been invited to assist with the National Junior College Forensic Tournament to be held at Ann Arbor Mich next spring This is the seventh year that Mr Warren has participated at the National Tournament as an official He has served on most of the committees and held several offices including that of the National President This year his responsibilities will be with the Ethics Committee whose main responsibility is to mediate any problems and difficulties at the tournament The National Tournament will be hosted by Kellogg Community College but the contest it is sponsoring will be held on the campus of the University of Michigan Mr Warren hopes to be able to take most of his debate students to the National Tournament Whether or not they will be able to attend will depend upon their continued record during the year was the crowning of the 1969 Homecoming Queen by Ruby Donathan last year’s queen This year’s queen is Sharon Long First attendant is Terri Neeley and second attendant is Carolee Larsen Kseams & OUR I KATIIY KELLY the things I've been taught since childhood have Coed’s Wear Weekly now and Lynna Rukavina Red says “be alive" and alive certainly describes Kathy Kelly as she steps into the coming season wearing her red wool drop-waidress The white scalloped collar and french cuffs add a bright accent She has chosen to accessorize her dress with black shoes Her red belt with black buttons comniptes this charming fashion st This colorful outfit adds to the wardrobe of an active girls as she moves through life on the CEU campus Selection of Blouses any relevancy By Cynda Lee Dinkleman Beautiful Lately I’ve become disillusioned— things aren't as they seem Too many things aren't really what I thought they Pants Dresses for the Holidays were— I learned them wrong God what a 4p r:mwm£ "The Action Faction' world!
