Saints mission field in Southern Germany A farewell testimonial honoring the young man was held recently at the Price Fifth Ward Featured speakers included Dean Wengreen Stan Cromar and Mr Eugene Cromar The Carbon Faculty Quartet and Diane Forsythe provided the musical numbers for the occasion Stan was graduated from Carbon College last spring with a major in science He was an active Community Theatre an organization of persons interested in stagecrafts were chosen in an election meeting held recently New officers are John Angotti president Hazel Jeanselme vice president Bruce Bryner secretary Dr O B Spencer treasurer Elaine Burgener historian Dr Herbert Rona adviser Boyd Bunnell Mrs Stella Geary and Quinn Whiting new directors Barbara Jacobson and Neil Warren holdover directors Dr Herbert Rona and Mrs Hal G MacKnight were presented two plaques for their work on the presentation of “Birth of a Child" The two plaques are on display in the trophy case at Geary Theatre The first youth drama ever undertaken by Cbmmunity Theatre Is the first project for the 1962 season A powerful membership drive for the children’s production which will be directed by De-cent- er Assembly Rates Praise Freshman class members presented a competitive assembly at the regular assembly hour on Thursday February 1 Val Halamandaris and Bob Finn opened the program with a skit to advertise the Las Vegas Party which was held in the Student Union Building after the Carbon-Wobgame Saturday night er Regis Named Students Placed Outstanding Coach Larry Regis has recently been honored as the “Outstanding Young Man of the Year” Mr Regis was given the Distinguished Service Award of the Price Junior Chamber of Commerce for outstanding service to the youth of this area in Mayor William J Welsh making the presentation of the award cited Mr Regis’ devotion to the youth when he helped establish a “Knot Hole Club” and taught them the fundamentals of football Another instructor at Carbon was among those nominated for the award Donald Burge was recognized for his help in establishing the Carbon College Prehistoric Museum Also honored at the banquet was FTcd W Kempncr of the Utah Power and Light Co He was chosen as “Boss of the Year” On Probation John Angotti principal of Harding-Central School and Miss Penny Sampinos teacher at Price Jr High School is being undertaken New members prospective members and persons thinking of joining the cultural group are invited to attend the play which will take place in the near future On April 3 and 4 members of the Community Theatre will present three one-aplays which promises to be an enjoyable drama ct treat Jimmy Bryner gave the opening prayer Lucille Allred sang and pantomimed “Second Hand Rose” Bob Finn and Pat LeMast-e- r Bill Bodine and Judy Brien-ho- lt and Mike Spurgeon and Janet Postma entertained with a rendition of the “twist” which drew applause from an enthusiastic audience Claudcne Burtcnshaw and Dave Ifaliiday presented “Lovers Errand” a skit Ben Hur Nama-tin-a played the drums while Dr Herbert Rona accompanied on his accordion and Moe Goiovnr and Linda Thompson sang with the combo A Russian Carbon is currently presenting a scries of foreign films each quarter These films are the best to originate in foreign countries On January 11 the cultural film on Russian tradition was shown The turnout for his first presentation was insufficient for the quality of this film Dr Rona states A better attendance is anticipated for future production Carbon College students were placed on probation at the beginning of Winter Quarter according to Lucile Jensen registrar at Carbon College Stu- who gave the statistics of the dents placed on probation were players and games played up to difficult to bridge the gap and drop out of school Those remaining are given every possible consideration by the administration faculty and students to help them overcome the hardships and remain in school Students who are enrolled on scholarships and who fail to maintain a satisfactory average suffer immediate loss of the scholarship Probationary students must raise their grade point average to 15 by midterm of the succeeding quarter in order to be taken off the probation list If a student fails to carry a 15 in his classes by mldtcnn he may be asked to leave school for the remainder of the
